Coincounter lag issue

When trying to avoid the 100-ton smash i run way out of range and about 60% of the time i get hit anyway, even though i run as soon as the log message pops up.

I can only assume this is a lag issue as some people have told me i seem to run a second late, but on my screen im half way across the arena when i get hit.

My reflexes are not slow and i cannot begin to run any sooner.

Im an EU player.

i know there are simialar complaints for ifrit (which is also something i have experienced) but what is more concerning is SE have known about that for some time and still there is a problem with their newest content >.>

PS. why cant SE make him do a downward swing (single target) so every party isnt stacked BLM/THM... again!! let the melee have some fun for a change.

I'm in the UK and know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I'll even start running and soon as I see Ifrit crouch down (BEFORE the log message or animation happens) and still be hit.
Annoying thing is that I usually get a ping of about 50-100 on most other online games I play on my connection.

This is a known server lag problem, and because they are using new/hugely upgraded servers for 2.0 its not financially viable to upgrade servers for this now.

Its the same with Ifrit and his eruptions, the best way to solve it with coincounter is look for when he holds his club in the air then run, or set a log tab to only show the special actions so you never miss it in the log.

The problem is worse for EU players because we are further away from the servers than anyone else, so we are have the worse network latency added on to the server lag and it makes it really hard, I still die to eruptions more than average because of this, but nowhere near as much as I used to.

Another thing you can do its get in voice chat with the people you run with, then get them to shout when to run so you are working off thier network latancy rather than the EU latency (assuming you run with US/middle east people.

I have a seperate log just for enemy actions and i have even made the text bigger in it, i am seeing the log entry as soon as it appears, i am even keeping my actions to a minimum so im not stuck and can pay full attention to the log.

i know it isnt that because usually i am WAY out of range when i get the damage, i am seriously half way across the arena.

i do use ventrilo but i think by the time someone shouts and then because of latency from ventrilo it will be happening on my screen by the time i hear them anyway.

i understand about the servers, but i dont consider this an excuse. SE should give him a longer start up time.. will this make it easier for people in japan? maybe, but atleast it will make it so people in the EU and other countries dont feel like the game is cheating them.

and i imagine if the player in japan is playing correctly (checking his battle log) he wouldnt be getting hit anyway so increasing the startup time for 100-ton wont make much difference.

Not being able to play because of lag is so 90s.

Unless all those people plus the chat magically predict the future to know to alert you, everything you suggested is useless because if you read the OP properly, you'd know his reactions are not the misfortunate here, its the Lag

To the OP though, WTF are you running around for in the new content? Both Dungeon bosses can be done by standing still, the Morbol in a type of Ogre stance and Chim you just stand in that "sweet spot" because the area effects are static, always in same spot, and there is a "sweet spot" where you wont get it.

Thats fine but i am talking about the Coincounter (hence the topic title)

I was using Aegis boon and sentinal to take the hit but i noticed he falls down if he outright misses his attack and would like to be able to do it that way. and the fact the dd can let loose more if im tanking war.

and besides i imagine standing in "sweet spots" isnt intended.. IE we are supposed to be able to dodge these attacks.

According to his little icon thingy its a possibility hes playing a tanking class trying to get the hell out of the way from a high damage attack thats avoidable. Plus hes talking about coincounter not the main bosses.

Hes talking about Coincounter, the cyclops that uses 100tonze which can oneshot every DD in range.

You could use another strat for this, slower but you will not get hit by the server lag.

Have only the tank in range, Barcher and BLM can attack, when he uses full AoE 100 tonze (holding his club with 2 hands) if no one is in range (doesnt work for miss, parry etc everyone has to be out of range) he will fall on his ass, then run in and full attack, when he gets up melee can move out and repeat.

Or you could just get on BLM WHM or Barcher.

I am the tank, we are infact going with ranged class's (blm,brd) even if it is reluctently.

As a side note if DRGs Evasion jump didnt have such a long recast i think people would not have a problem taking them to this type of content, perhaps all melee should have a simialar ability which can be used at anytime?

Yea this is unfortunate, tbh though its not network latency that is causing this issue its the servers themselves.

300 ms isn't even half a second and thats plenty enough time to get out of the way.

I would really like to see SE have their Servers in America, at least it would be in the middle latency wise for EU players then, I'm not sure how realistic that would be though.
