When did calling PS4 players “console peasants” become acceptable?

I’ve seen multiple posts by multiple people calling PS4 uses peasants, another guy insulting people who work min wage jobs and not being able to afford expensive GPUs(one guy doing this was bragging about his $600 1080ti. When did this kinda thing become acceptable? I love Final Fantasy 14 because I can play with friends on PC and PS4 I don’t see the point of bragging about purchases/platforms and using them to insult other people.

I have a fairly expensive pc I use to play the game. I also buy the game on PS4 for emergencies if I ever need it. I prefer console gaming, as my psn profile has been around since 2006 or so, pretty much only use my pc for skyrim and xiv, but upgrade it as a hobby.

Nothing wrong with being a console gamer.

It has literally always been acceptable? Are you just now hearing about the console/pc wars?

That’s what it seems like, I mean how insecure does one have to be to use their computer purchases to try to claim some sort of vain superiority over someone. I’m just surprised that flies with the mods here and they don’t do anything about it

I do it ironically. I always thought that was just an ironic joking thing. "Ugh, you console peasant."

Oh I’ve been quite aware of it, I just don’t see the appeal about acting like a bunch of children bragging about their expensive PC components purchases, I don’t freaking care what people play on and nor should anyone else.

There is no way a player would know unless you told them, how much information do you volunteer ?

It’s been a bit more than ironic here, like I said I know one guy here was making fun of people who work low paying jobs/fast food jobs because they can’t afford a good PC
