Next gear design contest I'm definitely planning on submitting a few SCH weapons but I'll start this thread in the meantime.
I know Scholar is all about books but can we get some different types of books? For example: a scroll, a few floating sheets of paper, a stone slate, a hologram screen, or just letters floating in a circle around our hand!
Anything besides the standard book would be very fun to see! :D
It would have to go with the book holding animations.
I don't see any problem keep the book holding animations exactly the same with the ideas I suggested :)
I posed that as an observation, not as a problem.
I think something like holding a rod in the middle (to accommodate the book holding animations) that projected up a holo screen looking thing could be cool. Match it up to resemble Chain Stratagem and you could have a neat techie look to it. Or even something like a double wide data pad from Star Trek

Great suggestions. It'd be cool to get a bit more variety for SCH and SMN weapons.
As for what's already in the game, the Grimoire Wing from the old Lightning Strikes event is kind of on the "different" side, even though when drawn its overall shape resembles a book. It folds and unfolds like a fan, into a stylized feather-like shape when sheathed, or fanned out to a bunch of feathers forming a book cover, with a holo screen within as the "pages" of the book when drawn. (Did the Lightning Strikes event weapons make it into the MogStation for people who missed the event?)
