Perma shelved my DRK: No role, no idenity, no lore, no worthwhile skills, no fun

To offer feedback as to why?

You took a fun kit where resource management was meaningful and required an actual degree of skill and turned into a hot mess of 123's atop a couple GCD's that is part warrior wannabe, part dumbed down to heck and back, and all unfun.

the new TBN? You crated a skill that actively works against itself and the kit. Trash mobs under 3 can't dent it, in boss fights i've seen only tankbusters come close, not even roomwides will. But if you try to get enough mobs to do so you've now got nothing to fall back on because of that insanely idiotic nerf to abyssal drain. Which has become a joke power every 60 seconds for a meaningless amount of heal in any ST situation, looking at you bosses. And against a large pull you no longer have it's spam with quietus and a real resource break for TBN into blood (read your own lore btw!)

Delirium is a clunk mechanic thats oh look, i get a lil extra dps, and 200 mp per blood spiller is utterly insulting. The only thing worse was reducing quietus to single target regen status, and making us need to burn a GCD to get that equally joke 600 back. When compared to the cost of TBN and the maintenance buffs, oh i mean flood and edge.

It won't keep you or TBN up, unless you burn blood weapon at the same time which takes care of your sustain for the next 60 seconds.

So you need more mobs, but with the inability to spam abysal or TBN any more due to the break giving DA instead of blood atop the quietus nerf, you can't actually survive against the amount of damage needed to use it for it's main designed intent. Even if you do break it it's a 0 gain situation. You get a free hit, but if you're healer has half a brain you may as well just spam flood and edge anyway, because they'll be keeping you up.

Even if it does break the increase is may as well not be there. 1000 extra on my highest 600 potency attack? Really? Really? So again what's the point of new darkside if new darkside has no meaningful impact? and at least ninjas don't need to burn 1/3 of their resource bar every 30 seconds for an armor crush. and ninjas at least have more than one combo still!

As for flood and edge? utterly unimpressive in terms of visuals. You still have the dark passenger animation and scourge laying around. How bout them instead of imma poke you with this speck of dark around my sword? It feels like again i'm working against my kit instead of any kind of flow. They aren't attacks, they're a button i push every 30 seconds and praying i have enough MP scraped up from my 123 pokes.

Carve and spit gets a dishonorable mention here as well, at least before it's do i want MP or do i want damage? Now i get the worst of both worlds on a 60 sec cooldown that gets me 600 mp, and only 50 more potency than a souleater? Yay?

I'm so just utterly unimpressed with the hot mess they've made DRK, dumbed down to nothing, shredded the skills that made it what it was in terms of fun and lore, (i partly blame the people whining about DA spam personally) and overly reliant on being cool every 60 seconds and still a joke otherwise in terms of it's mitigation skills, it's raid buff, and of course walking dead being walking dead.


Can I have Stormblood dark back please? At least then it felt like I was able to actually have powers that meant something juggling old shield break for blood, a quietus that actually had an impact, and an abyssal that if you knew how to spam it and when meant you kept your butt alive with the best of them. Not this clunky worthless, TBN spam for DPS (non)gain I have now.

There's a couple changes you could make that honestly should be.

Give back old abyssal and make it 3000 mp if you want so we have to THINK about what we use, not just push it cause it's up. And make it useful again on top. Bring back some of the old actual mp manage skill DRK had before these changes.

Give back old Quietus, make that blood gauge mean something again. Or at the very least give us a meaningful impact to our mp regen for the cost of popping delirium.

Make TBN give blood once more with the above, or just make the break extend darkside without the clunk of making us spam a flood or edge, work with your lore in a class meant to take pain and get bloody. Or at the very least take a page from the BLM umbral/astral timer playbook and extend it's timer by 3 seconds. Enough that we can actually use the break mechanic in more situations.

Either way it's back to DPS for me, least they seem to haven't gotten the love this xpac. and honestly it's the only solution for me. To me personally you've taken away everything that made DRK what it was and what made it fun to play. Now trying to do so just angers me. More so as this is a class i loved to play, almost more than my BLM main. I even took the time for an anima. And to need to walk away from it because it's making me literally furious to try and relearn this clunky joke it's become.... it's disappointing. and I wish I had a better solution than utter refusal to play it.

Honestly, I think most of the community agrees and they just dunno "how" to make DRK unique again. They've dumbed it down so hard since HW, in SB it had some form of control and fun, but now its braindead and I think they may be considering fixing that at some point.

It's ff14 version of the Maddens curse. They take the job that's on cover art of the expansion and make it the worst job ever.

The moment i saw that delirium changed for the 3rd time i rolled my eyes and hang up my 2H sword. It wasn't easy since i main it for 4 years now but if DRK keeps getting shafted every expansion then i think it's time to move on to greener pasture.

Same. I don't understand the people talking about how great their rotation feels now.

There was an interesting flow to the previous rotation, now you literally just keep your oGCDs on cooldown and 123. if a big hit is coming use TBN.

Because every single one of them wanted to play ( due to aesthetics)DRK back in heavensward but where unable to play it efficiently because it was too hard. Now 4 years later they finally took it to a level low enough that people which their amount of skills consist in "press the button that is not on cooldown" can enjoy it.

The rest of us? Is playing GNB, which has it's problem but at least is a little more entertaining and it hasn't a history of 4 years of abuses on its shoulders

I don't get it. Why do the NORMAL people have to suffer loss of the job identity so some dum... eh.. mentaly challenged would play the job for AESTHETICKS??! I hate not only the DRK changes, but also MCH. He too have lost his identity and've been simplyfied to the ground...

I don't see DRK reworked beyond the change to Darkside & Dark Arts (and consequently Delirium & BW). Everything else that changed feels like parts of the overall changes they made to all tanks this expansion.

I like the Darkside change. They found a solution that removed DA spam (I didn't have a problem with personally) but let DRK better control when/where to dump additional potency. That's all good in my book. But how does Dark Mind survive a rework, how does Living Dead..

Disapointed they also didn't rethink the Blood Gauge. IMO DRK did not need this widget in SB, and they still do not need it in ShB. Blood actions (LS BS Q) could just be procs or stacks like Bard Repertoire stacks, placed inside the DS widget. DRK doesn't need to track their Blood accumulation the way a Warrior manages with Wrath gauge, I feel this is true even with the change to Delirium. Now DRK has 2 widgets that really don't make sense imo.

And then nerfing Salted Earth to be weaker than even Circle of Scorn just to make room for AD as an oGCD.. I guess because PLD got Atonement and DRK needed an equivalent? This exp's version of nerfing Blood Price just to add Quietus (which didn't restore MP even @4.0)
