When shadowbringers came out, and the Gunbreaker tank class was released i was incredibly excited to see the weapon come to fruition. It is above all a magnificent class and i have much respect for it.
Though i came to the realization why i am not too fond of the look and feel as it currently stands.
Siefer had a pistol gunblade, he was forced to wield it with 1 hand and slash and fight like such. This is what the current gunblade animations do with very minimum spots of 2h elements.
Squall always fought while holding his gunblade with 2 hands, similar to a greatsword. Something the current gunbreaker class does not share, as nearly 90% to all of its abilities strike with a single hand.
I am curious and maybe hopeful that there is a chance that much like we have /cpose, is it possible for us to have both the single hand and two handed animation strikes with our gunblade depending on which technique we choose to fallow: Squall or Seifer's.

Tbh... I like Seifer, so this isn't disappointing to me. They gave us JUST FINE SOUND EFFECTS TO BEGIN WITH, then people complained because good god their nostalgia ruins this effing game's newest job. No one complained prior to its release how it sounded, they just loved we were getting it. Now people QQ over every detail, now we have crappier sounds GG. Gunblades just need to be longer, only issue there. We use two hands for some of the attacks too so idk why everyone's QQ'ing about that now. Ya'll need to stop complaining about things that don't matter and sound just fine, this is FFXIV, not FF8, not dissidia. FINAL FANTASY FOURTEEN. Stop whining for your dumb false nostalgia and making SE do unnecessary work.
Yes its based off FF8, everything else in this game is based off some FF, but they at least take some time to adjust it to feel new and fresh, enjoyable. Whoever whined about the sounds deserves a suspended account imo because now I have to find a new main AGAIN after spending weeks gearing and leveling this job. All because some kids go "wah I can't hear explosions, it needs to sound like a cannon vomiting michael bay farts wah MUST BE EXACTLY LIKE SQUALL GUNBLADE FROM FF8 CUZ VIBRATION OF PS1 TRIGGER FEELING OOMPH". Thanks for ruining something nice kids, I'm an FF8 fan, only one I truly played through and through and I didn't need these changes. -

Wasn't horrible, just not enticing, but they also only had about 4 quests to do so anyways so... not like they could build up anything as is. I appreciated the lore around it, walking around and getting to fight in normally what is a town area in mmo's too. Again, people are complaining about the stupidest nonsense lately.Quote:

5.0 GNB was perfect. If you don't like it go play FFVIII. They didn't remove it from existence.
WAR and DRK are currently big weapon users. GNB is something very fresh. We just need old sounds back and it's back in the game. -

I'm not jaded on anything, I just can't stand when people get so greedy they think something new and nice needs to change for THEIR memories and nostalgia. Nothing about it goes against the promotion, they showed what it'd be like with Thancred with both the sounds and magic ammunition, it plays well, sounded great, and has beautiful animations. My "fellow" fans ruined this job's sounds, I'm gonna bash whoever ruins my favorite job because "LOL MY NOSTALGIA MUST BE OR IT TRASH". You people who aren't satisfied with your lot demand more and then ruin it for everyone else, the minority of people who complained here about the sounds, as now brought about 10x as many people complaining about the changes. And AGAIN, I am an FF8 fan, but a true FF8 fan loves that game, they don't try to force the design on new ones. FF14 was clean, cirsp, precise, you could hear the triggers, clicks of the gunblade, like it had inner mechanics, as well as very steel scraping sounding slashes coupled with explosions that highlighted this. It's not a boom stick, it's not a cannon, there is currently no "blade" in it right now if you listen to our base combo hitting an object, it sounds like cardboard, blunt, its not a stick. It didn't sound like daggers, play NIN and tell me it was exactly the same I dare you. NIN sounded thinner, MUCH thinner, old GNB sounds had heavy swings but light/steel-like slashes. I'm sorry but your nostalgia is covering your judgement in this. I'll bet you hated Eden too lmao. -

This is interesting. For the most part of my gaming experience in FF 14 currently, i have met wonderful players who really back and forth and share in a debate or discussion, a single post on the forums however proves something different.
Having aggressive individuals like Val calling anyone who disagrees or has an issue with someone whiney be compelled without reason to go on a rant, or have others in the forums suggest that this is complaining, or whining is pretty unusual for this game.
Maybe i haven't been here long enough to experience all that the forums have to offer but let me be clear:
1) Squall is the iconic character for FF8, Seifer is a side character, and while it would be great if he and squall shared the limelight they do not. Though i love and respect that a lot of fans can appreciate both.
2) Since fans can appreciate both, then my question is why not have the animations favor both styles.
3) the OG post suggested/requested the idea of having a sort of technique alignment or choice in the future. Where if you chose to fight like squall your animations would reflect as such, if you chose to fight like siefer you animations would reflect as such.
There is no reason why the fans shouldn't have both, no damage change required, no adjustments, just animation alterations.
My thoughts initially are that i am turned off by the class because it doesnt reflect the image of the gunblade wielder i associate it with, and i am aware this is a lot of "i" but i am not alone in this.
Those who like Seifer i love that you do, and i would honestly prefer that you are able to keep that. but Squall is the core, the animations should have the ability to reflect both at the very least, not just hints of it.
