Dancer: Should you use ST on cd or before buff runs out?

i'm not good with the math but someone said to use it on cd for more dps.

You should use standard step every time it's available. It makes the majority of your dps.

Should absolutely be using it on cooldown and make sure it hits something or many somethings.

Standard step is effectively just a CD. Keep it on CD unless it would clip a Technical Step or come up during your Technical Finish window.

It's roughly equivalent to a 300 potency oGCD. You should use it whenever it's available.

And if available, you can prep it just before you go into battle for an immediate 1000 potency move. I see some dancers that treat it as a buff, but it is a 2 in 1 kinda thing, if you’re not using it to do damage, your DPS will suffer, especially on single target (though I am aware it is an AoE move, but the damage it does is high on the closest target)

The damage is worth having every time it is available and will also ensure you’re not keeping an eye on your timer as there is a big enough window before it runs out versus when it is next available.
