A fatal DirectX error has occurred. (1100000f)

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M

I have been getting this error whenever I tried to run directx 11 on windows mode or windows fullscreen mode on my laptop. Only when using fullscreen mode does it not crash immediately and will crash when I alt+tab. I can run the game in directx 9 but it is not ideal as there are random lag spike and random game crashes when I enter a new zone. I have tried everything to fix this problem from reinstall graphic drivers, direct x drivers, ff14 game and client, even reinstalling a fresh windows 10. Please help if there anyways.

Were any updates or changes made to the PC? Does the crash happen when the game is in borderless full screen? Does the crash happen on a different resolution?

Could you also try doing a clean boot? Open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

As I have stated, I reinstall windows 10 on my laptop. The only update I did was to install the Nvidia driver for the GTX 980M. The game also crash in borderless full screen and any windows resolution.

I just tried clean boot and the crash still happen. The game only start on dx11 full screen or borderless full screen on dx9.

Make sure that the dedicated graphics card is set for the game. Open the Nvidia Control Panel and going to 'Manage 3D Settings'. From here, select 'Program Settings' and select Final Fantasy XIV. You should see an option to select the GPU. Make sure it's set to your dedicated graphics card (it may be set to 'Auto' by default).

Set compatibility mode to Windows 7. Right-click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7.

If you reinstalled the game, make sure to also remove the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Be sure to make a backup of this just in case it doesn't resolve the issue.
