Question about Ascians and 1st

From my understanding, a calamity is required on the Source for a Rejoining to occur.

What was the corresponding Light calamity supposed to be on the Source during the Flood of Light?

black rose being unleashed, the scions theorized that it kills people by seizing up their aether, fitting with the endpoint of light/astral aether being effectively a state of complete stasis

The time doesn’t match though

If I understand the presentations given by Urianger the the Exarch properly...

One ingredient of a Rejoining is a Shard / Reflection world which has been given an elemental over-concentration. In this case, it seems that the intent was to give all of the First's elements a passive charge (via the presence of Light). This causes that excess elemental energy to begin to diffuse through the dimensional barrier into the Source. If the world had been set up to over-concentrate with ice energies, this diffusion would cause perhaps abnormal cold-snaps, exacerbated winters, global cooling. However, because it was all elements with a passive charge, we began seeing the beginning effects of "stasis".

I don't think the Flood of Light itself was planned, as it didn't happen until Mitron and Loghrif's plan went sideways.
It was just worked into future plans as they tried to come back from this, including using the "Warriors of Darkness" themselves in 3.4

The next ingredient for a Rejoining is to trigger a disaster on the Source that would cause a crack in the dimensional barrier. When this needs to happen, the Ascians just throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. Usually it involves primals; those are usually pretty good tools. The Garlean Empire has of course been one of the biggest tools this generation (pit against the primals).

It does seem as though for this specific arc of this specific plot, Black Rose was the intended disaster. Various other plots (Primals, Primals vs. Garlemald, Eorzea vs. Garlemald, the Holy Empire of King Thordan vs.Garlemald, Eorzea vs. Garlemald II) weren't going anywhere new, but internal strife within Garlemald plus the counter-invasion by Eorzea would make people more willing to take drastic action.

However, it might not have always been because Black Rose itself had a stasis (umbral) charge (which we now know is caused by the elements being skewed by Light). That might have been a happy accident. Solus just up and wanders away in 3.5 when he realizes that Black Rose may have "the perfect aspect" to synergize with the energy spilling in from the First, and Elidibus is like, "I'm not sure where he went, but he's always been on-mission before, so I'm sure it's a good idea."

Back when the Flood occurred, there was no proper Calamity queued up on the Source. That was what caused Flood in the first place - there was too much Light aether on the First with nowhere to go. If what Urianger and Elidibus imply is correct, it might have been possible to cause a Calamity by killing the Warrior of Light (thereby destroying Eorzea's symbol of hope), but the veracity of this is debatable.

The actual Calamity stopped thanks to the Crystal Exarch's intervention was the use of Black Rose, which being a Light-aspected aetheric poison, would have worked on a level far beyond what was foreseen - it would have wiped out almost all life in Eorzea (and probably beyond), leading to the collapse of civilization. The unnatural potency was owed to the influx of Light aether from the First, which despite being saved from annihilation by the Flood of Light was still severely imbalanced.

if everything had gone to plan it would have matched up, but between us on the first and zenos/estinien/gaius on the source we kind of ruined everything the ascians set up (for now, at least)

I just got done re-playing the Warriors of Darkness story arc in HW on an alt. SPOILERS.

Elidibus says to Ilberd when he gives him Nidhogg's eyes that the Flood of Light on the First "does my master no good." So he will happily watch as Minfillia goes to the First to stop the flood and follow her with great interest.

So, yeah, the flood was never intended. Because then the First would be as useless as the Thirteenth.

Considering the time flux going on between us and the 1st, do they mean a 1:1 match or the time flux match?

At one point, we're told that Mitron and Loghrif's plan was to *almost* cause a Flood of Light, and use that energy to restore the 13th shard.
... though given the circumstances under which we find this out, they might well have been lying.
And then they wound up dead.
