Dancer: Esprit - Has anyone noticed...

That the Esprit guage doesn't seem to increase off our weapon skills consistently?

The tooltip states that it's supposed to increase whenever "you or party members under the effects of Esprit land a weapon skill or cast a spell" and yet I don't see the gauge increase when I use my own weapon skills.

it does slowly seems to go faster when doing aoe though

What the NA tooltip fails to mention is it's a *chance* of gaining Esprit when landing a weapon skill or casting a spell. There's also been mention of the Japanese tooltip stating that the chance varies depending on job.

Its a chance although the english translation doesn't state that

I have found that esprit builds better when attached to another ranged DPS. I am getting backlash for saying this but does anyone have any Idea?

Since esprit is gained from weapon skill/spell aka GCD, having a partner with their rotation focus on GCDs is pretty reliable. Which means if your partner's rotation focuses too much on oGCD, your esprit gauge would barely move.

Ok that helps.. However, my biggest question is .... what is the best DPS to tether with as a DNC? I Say oDNC first, BRD 2nd, and BLM 3rd. I am being told it should be BLM always if avail.......??

It's allegedly normalized though so that every job gives a consistent amount of it over time, so even though a Ninja or Monk would seem to be the better choice, in reality they shouldn't be better than a Black Mage over the course of a 10 minute fight.

However you sound like you are referring to actual DPS.. Esprit is tied to a probability from the amount of times a DPS lands their GCD's. Not the amount of damage the Job does.... Knowing this would change based on the job that can land more GCD's in a specific amount of time.

It's implied the rate that esprit is granted depends on the job. So even though Mnk has a 30% gcd speed buff, it's esprit % rate would be lower than DRG which would have a higher rate but lower gcd frequency. It should be proportionally similar.
