If they were going to make Flood of Darkness do almost the same thing, why would they get rid of an awesome ability animation/sound for something that looks like a limp black bolt?

If they were going to make Flood of Darkness do almost the same thing, why would they get rid of an awesome ability animation/sound for something that looks like a limp black bolt?

Flood of darkness achieves two things:
1. Give you the power of a DADP without having to cost half your MP or be on a 60 sec CD.
2. Give you what is essentially DP, but without the blinding effect. Given that we want to break our TBN, the blind is not something that synergizes with TBN.
There are two reasons for FoD to have a different animation
1.) Its much faster
2.) It makes it look like Cecil's Darkness skill much more clearly than DP did, which its supposed to be based on.
That said yes I loved the DP animation and would love to see it come back. Same for Power Slash.
I kind of like how it looks like cecils darkness skill
honestly the only things on my dark knight wish list would be to just combine flood and edge. It's not strong or spammable enough to matter. Warrior was stuck using an AoE as it's big skill for 8 levels and never really mattered either
and just change salted earth to be a trait that adds it to abyssal drain.
coincidentally, 2 less buttons would make dark knights kit the perfect size for my comfort zone lol
If anything, we need more of our skills to look like flood/edge. I didn't think I liked flood of darkness at first but it kinda feels good out it rushes out to hit a line of enemies.
Dark passenger looked like garbage and was garbage for the majority of SB expansion.

It was snap aggro. Something very important when you have red mages that think that pre-pull verslaughter doesn't need diversion, and then complain that the tank didn't hold.
I don't care if that was just in Exdeath Savage, it's not something I'm forgetting anytime soon.
In a perfect world Dark Passenger would have been upgraded to Flood of Darkness as a skill later on. Kept it for lower level play to help with aggro control but then actually make it usable for endgame content. Even if they took off the blind and give it a fat potency boost I can see so many people using it if it existed in 4.0.
I loved Dark Passenger for what it is was, but as people said giving that attack blind and having a gimmick where you want to eat as many attacks as possible for TBN just didn't make sense.
I'm a fan of FoD as it's a really cool throwback to Cecil on top of just being a nice skill on current DRK.
