Can't connect to Data Center without VPN...?

So basically I can't connect to any US data centers without a VPN. On top of that only a New York connection will work. I tried a few other areas and they didn't work. Seems pretty strange. Maybe it's something simple idk. Hoping to find some answers. Yes, I live in the US. ~Thanks

Edit: I'm going to give some more info. I just recently came back to the game after about a year. I played for about 2 days around 6 months ago and did NOT have this problem. I've never had this problem with FFXIV or any other game. I get the error 2002 when I can't connect to the data center. I like in Indiana. I have a local IP. Nothing like comcast etc. I've always used them though and never had this problem.

A VPN will use a different route to connect you to the server. If you are having trouble connecting to the game without it, you are likely running into a congestion or routing issue along your way to the server. The VPN is taking you along a different route, avoiding that congestion.
