Annoying Map Restoration

Anybody else find it annoying how the map restores itself everytime after you interact with a mission objective? The way the map normally worked was that it would go transparent whenever you were on the move or interacting with an objective so it wouldn’t get in the way. But now that Shadowbringers is out, the map keep restoring itself everytime I complete a mission objective. It’s really annoying to have to deactivate it manually especially in situations where enemies spawn in the field after interacting with an objective. Is there any way I can make it stop doing that or can SE make the map UI the way it used to be?

I'm not going crazy, this wasn't always it worked right?
And it seems like it's not updating realtime information like it used to. I don't know if this is just in the new zones where it's still instanced, but that's all I've been when noticing it.

No, you’re not going crazy. I’m actually glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed this, though I haven’t had any problems with the map updating realtime information.

What's your setting for: Character Configuration --> UI Settings --> General --> Restore map when not moving? That mentions moving rather than interacting, but it's the only relevant setting I can find. If you have that turned on, then maybe turning it off would help.

I have that set to "No".

But my real annoyance with the map right now is that whenever I turn in a quest, the map steals my cursor and puts it over the "Center map on player location" button. So instead of interacting with the NPC to start the next quest, it centers my map. Then I have to take my hand off the keyboard, pick up the mouse, move the map back to where I wanted it, click out of the map, move my hands back to the keyboard, then confirm to interact with the NPC to pick up the next quest.

Thank God I am not the only person having this problem. I use a game controller on PC and every time I interact with a quest objective or hand in a quest, the map auto restores into focus. I am unable to select anything or turn the camera until I have taken a step.

This is particularly frustrating because I usually end up sending the center of the map somewhere into the sea by trying to move the camera before I have moved my character, and then end up having to close and reopen the map to recenter it. Then I have to take a step to ensure my map isn't in focus just to resume playing the game.

It is infuriating and happens every time.

set the "Map Transparency" to zero, when you move the map stays visible but the top left map control goes invisible when you are moving
