Which materia on my Paladin ?

I came back to the game recently and I have no idea what materials to equip on the different parts of my stuff on my Paladin, could you enlighten me?

If your gear on PLD has more than 2000 Crit without any melds, meld Crit, after that DH.

If you have less than 2000 base Crit, meld DH! No need for Determination, unless you want to go Omni-tank with WAR. In that case meld Determination, Crit after.

Dont meld crit, the stats efficiency has been reduced by 50% across all stats.
Crit is no longer bis unless later into the expansion.

Are you sure we should be melding Direct hit? i can understand melding determination, but one thing I've noticed on a lot of tank gear both 430 and 440, is that none of it has direct hit at all. In fact tenacity seem to be the main stat this expansion since a lot of tank gear seems to have a large amount of it. I know during SB tenacity was considered the worst stat, but now it seems like they want us to have lots of it.

That's why we meld DH at the beginning of the expac just like SB. Tanks have no DH on their gear so they sit at the base number, and that base number is basically 0% DH rate. Simply melding one DH materia enables DH for you (which is a big increase in DPS), and because stats are currently pretty low since it's just the start of the expac, crit has less weight for tanks than DH right now. This will change once our ilevel will go up a notch and enable us some bigger stat numbers, making crit outweight DH since crit's weight is exponential. Tenacity is sub-par in terms of efficiency. Det is always good but never first. It's like the second stat you put on your gear once the best stat is maxed.

WAR is an exception to this because of Inner Release drastically reducing DH weight since it guarantees DH crits and DH, unlike crit, only increases rate and not multiplier.
