cmon yoshi you do it when we control thancred and you cant implement it for us?

when we control him, i finally see the shortcut button that i always want in this game, the 1-2-3 combo all packed in 1 button.

i always want that to lessen the button bloat for combo attack, so it sadden me when it still not there in SHB.... then that fight happen and i was like "its there!!! they can do it afterall!"

so why they didnt implement it for us? just make it an additional function or sort, a toggle between that shortcut and the usual 3 button combo.

We already do have it. Play some PvP.
I'd rather not have it.

I'd take that instead of removing several skills each expansion or not giving new skills but only shiny new animations that don't change the gameplay.

At least, they could give this as an option, like they do for the gauge display, the name plate, etc...

Never understood why they didn't give us combo shortcuts in the PvE part of the game. They complain about button bloat, and instead of giving us combo buttons, that could reduce our hotbar by 2-4 buttons, they instead butcher entire Jobs.

I'm not a fan of combo shortcuts. They're fine in PVP where you have to constantly be on a lookout for different players whose actions are far harder to predict than a scripted enemies'. But in PVE I prefer to have more than five buttons to press to keep me engaged.

I understand that, but button bloat is the main reason why we lost a lot of skills. So, in the end, by consolidating combos into one button, we would have room for more skills, thus, more gameplay options. Because, let's be honest a 1-2-3 combo has the same impact on the gameplay if it's on one or three buttons.

Also, if a combo is on one button, there's no need for combos to share the same opener or middle skill, which could give us more animations, to break the visual monotony.

This I can get behind. I don't like removal of skills that could be updated vs removed. Scourge on drk as an example. But I also just love dots :p

I've said this so many times. Doing 1-2-3 with such a delay in between each input doesn't require more skill than doing 1-1-1 and having such hotbar space freed up would allow them to add a lot more skills without having to delete anything (they can apply this to some oGCDs too or non-combo skills depending on class mechanics). I can't put my hand on why they didn't already do it. You could go even further beyond and fit up to 6 different combos into 2 buttons only (1-1-1, 1-2-1, 1-2-2, 2-2-2, 2-1-2, 2-1-1)

I mean, in a fighting game I can understand wanting to press different buttons for combos since good execution is a really important part of how you can stand out as a player in these games. But in an MMO with a hefty and fixed delay between each combo input (GCD) it really doesn't change anything.

I'd like the option to be available to us. Maybe something in the skill menu that let's us check off combos we want to be allocated to a single key.

The main issue is you know what stage of a combo you're in with 1-2-3. You know if your next hit will be Syphon Strike and grant your MP, or Soul Eater and grant you HP and Blood.
You lose track of this with 1-1-1. Which is fine for PvP where this added utility isn't an issue.
