Directx Fatal Errors

I have the infamous plague that is of Directx fatal errors (100002 I think) I've used Directx 9 since and I have had little to no problems with it. However, with dropped support, I don't know if it's a viable option anymore after having seen a graphic glitch and then an unexpected error when loading a cutscene, so I had to swap back to 11 where the crashes still seem to be happening. The crashes seem to be random but I think it may have a bit of an unstable load as it has crashed multiple times while I'm moving about. It has crashed in places where I get some sort of weird blinking in game as well.

Only other programs I usually have running while playing are Chrome and Discord, with the overlay turned off (though I may have some background Window apps open).

For performance reasons since I use an Intel laptop, I use custom settings close to normal laptop preset settings.

Edit: I decided to swap back to 9 for now to see how things go with this since the fatal errors were getting to be too much for me.

You system report only lists the Integrated Intel Graphics. Is this the GPU you are using to play the game? If the correct one isn't being listed, can you provide which one you are using?

Please use the following instructions to access a system report:


Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

It looks like your integrated graphics is the main graphics card on your PC. Unfortunately, integrated graphics aren't officially supported for the game. This may be why you are running into issues. If DX9 mode continues to work for you, then there is no reason to switch to something else. Just be aware that this API isn't supported anymore and you may run into issues later down the line.
