Nooblette Inquiry - Part I

Hey Pals,

After a couple weeks of rieing a Marauder to the free trial level cap of Level 35, I decided to go all in with a late entry into the ShadowBringers early access. Having a blast and with that I e a few questions with which I'd hoped one or more of you knowledgeable folks might be inclined to aid me!

Server Selection - So after a little research, I initially rolled on Sargatanas because it seemed like an established place with people who do raid stuffs. I'm not HUGE on Raid stuffs, but want to make sure I'm in a place that I can progress if I want to, preferably via PUG because my many extra-Eorzean responsibilities demand a super casual relationship with FFXIV. Leveling was A-OK with pretty short queues for low level content.

Sunday I created a character on Goblin because it was tagged preferred and I thought that, well lets see: 1. how the XP bonus tastes and 2. what the low level population feels like. Thought it might be fun to grow with a server rather than on one as mature as Sargatans. Anyway, do bonus seems HUGE, but this time around I just skipped quest dialogue because I'd already read it, so that may have contributed a teensy amount to how much quicker I was able to reach roughly the same level (1day vs 2-3weeks). The queues seem to be a LOT longer than inn sargatans though (like 2-3x). I was queuing as marauder on both.

Anyone have any thoughts on any of this? Queue times, XP bonus, PUG progression at le upper echelons of Eorzean adventuring?

The queue time went up because Shadowbringers released just as you switched servers. GNB is a new tank and it's so popular that tanks now have to wait in queues for duties.

The Road to 70 XP bonus is 200% XP, which is a lot. You can definitely level multiple classes on MSQ XP alone with it. You can push the bonus XP even further with a few XP boosting items in game and the Armory Bonus from leveling a class lower than your highest level class.

As far as raiding goes, it shouldn't make much difference where you go. All servers can connect with all other servers on the same data center. You won't be limited to raiding with people only on your server. Raids are more active earlier in their release and we usually have 3 tiers per expansion. If you find a bit of a raiding lull, you're probably at end of a tier.

Server selection isn't too big a deal now with the server visit option from the main aetherytes in the starting towns so you can still benefit from the entire selection of servers in that Data Center by browsing the market boards on each. Really you are picking for a FC or if it has a bonus to leveling for being preferred.

This also extends to the Duty Finder and dungeons as the queue is between the data center (perhaps all, I never paid much attention myself) though with the expansion and a new Tank, the fastest queue times are for Healer at the time. Give it some time and eventually tanks will be back in high demand and bring faster dungeons.

Thanks PB/AF! I was wondering if maybe GB was slowing things down. Gone keep with SCH for now maybe and see if Qs improve over marauder. Haven't actually Qd as SCH yet lol. Just been doin class quests and hunting log.
