Version 2.0 Release

OK i have been thinking about 2.0. How will this game release? Is it going to be a completely new install or an expansion to the current game? I would assume it is going to be a completely new install because of all the dramatic changes they want to make but at the same time the storyline must continue from where we are now which would just make it an expansion and thus the question of Expansion or Completely new.

I would love to see peoples views on this as well as if we know for sure what they plan on doing.

Sorry if this has already been answered many times but i didn't want to go through almost 9k pages of forums.

It will release as an update to the current client for those of us that have the game already. It will also release in retail on PC and PS3.

Yea but does distribution mean that people that have been playing it get it as an update or do we have to purchase the game again?

Existing players get the client for free, everyone else pays >)

We just get the update. I think in fact we will get it before the retails versions hits the shells.

They are a few months behind on their plan. I doubt we will get patch 1.22 by the end of april

The 2.0 client will probably be a complete new download, mainly because its using a new engine, making the current programming incompatible, however it has been said we will get the 2.0 client for free with an active service account we don't have to pay for it again.

The current updater is a different program that the client so there is no problem to throw it as an update.

I thought they had a completely separate team of developers working on 2.0 so any delays in the current patches won't hinder the progress of 2.0. Unless of course the 2.0 team makes a mistake...
