Disclaimer: I know today is the official release of ShB however, having played around with the new Ninja toolkit and tried the suggested openers, there's a single thing that makes the least sense to me: Why is Hyoton not a 1-step upgrade from Fuma?
Ninja has avoided clipping GCDs in openers/rotations due to Fuma being worth more than Raiton in single-target situations. But now our dripping blades and slashing resistances are gone, Raiton/Hyosho are much better. 2-step mudras clip unless you live inside the internet and during a rotation I can handle doing Raiton due to the nature of the skill and the fact if fits class fantasy quite well. But Hyosho being an upgrade of Fuma fits the animation more than Hyoton and it would allow the class to flow better in single-target situations/fights.
I can understand why they made Hyosho a 2-step, considering Hyoton was a completely useless skill at max level+ and they want to make sure every button is pressed at least once. Personally though it comes at the cost of a skill that could easily feel much better to use while not hindering class fantasy.

The big question is, then: Fuma Shuriken is now useless? I was one that used it instead of Raiton due to not having perfect ping conditions, and was content with it because it was easier to use...

07-03-2019, 02:38 PMTaranokRoughly speaking, assuming a 2.1s GCD, as long as you don't clip more than about a quarter of the GCD (500ms), it should be a DPS gain to use Raiton. I was using incredibly lazy math with a lot of assumptions made, so please don't take this as absolute, but the 120 potency difference between Raiton and Fuma is a massive increase in effectiveness for Raiton and assuages a ton of clipping losses.Quote:

Oh for sure, the clipping issue is made up for with the potency of Raiton being in a sense "worth" clipping. I just can't help feel that perhaps if we didn't clip it'd make the job feel much better than it is and we'd be able to put out just a tad more dps since we'd be hitting GCDs as they come off cooldown and not a fraction of a second more.

Actually Raiton and Hyosho are one of many, this job became a "Double Weaving" by rule now if you wanna fit anything and everything.
Even True North.
I would rather (for peace of mind) consider that "So long you can fit 3 AE combos in between a SF DoT renewal, you are fine".
If you do no oGCD, you'll notice that you renew the SF DoT at the 2s mark, these 2s are the "clipping cushion".
Or so I want to believe... -
