I recently upgraded to a GTX 1080 laptop and surprisingly my FFXIV performance has dropped. I'm not sure what could be causing the issue and I've tried adjusting the Nvidia Control panel settings without success. The only change I've made since getting this laptop is updating my Nvidia graphics driver, which is about the same time I noticed the drop in performance.
