Would there happen to be any threads that discuss popular hair/highlight color scheme combinations? The character creator lighting always seems to be Abit off, and it'd save me so much time and gil just to see a guide of lovely combos.

I know I'm not the most original, but I've always loved the white highlights with red hair.
dunno if there is a way to see most popular ones but if you need some advice on good looking color combinations a crash course on color theory could help

a basic tip for coloring paintings/drawings is to use complementary colors, using the hue color wheel, picking oposite colors are eye pleasing, but take in mind that for them to not clash much you need to vary brightness/saturation (how dark and vivid they are)
also, you can use more colors, adjacent or in a square to complement glamours, just make sure one is domiant and the others help it.
I use the yellow(blonde) color 3 to the right and 3 down in the grid because it looks like a natural white as opposed to the unnatural looking white you get when picking white. :D ...Then I use the blackest black (top right corner) for highlights which I think enhances the natural look with several hairstyles, and looks cool, albeit unnatural, on some other hairstyles. :D
I'm sure people also blame lighting for the godawful navy blue/seafoam green or navy blue/brick red combo I see all the time.
Though like the poster above me, using a light base and a dark highlight gives a natural look without being too outrageous. It really depends on how highlights work for that particular style. Some are pretty limited, and unless you're going for high contrast with a vibrant colour, you're better off picking a base you like and picking a highlight close to it, so it adds a bit of depth.
I know this much. I'm an artist myself. c: Digital and traditional. Watercolor, calligraphy, and ink is my forte. I don't really sell anymore due to not having much time to do so, but when I do it's definitely eye catching. I appreciate the crash course. I was asking for more of a picture guide and comparison of the shades in game in different lighting. It's difficult for me to really see in game. For some reason the shades end up looking way different after leaving the aesthetician in my game after 5.0 dropped for some reason. I'm not sure if it's a bug but it bothers me I've tried changing the settings never the less the issue still remains.
I tend to go for natural highlight colors to make the hair look like it has more volume and depth. Whichever color base hair you want, try a few shades lighter or darker of the same color.
Or the inverse like J'olhmyn had.
