Game will not load/Black Screen of Death

Had no problem updating today, but after the update, the game continually gets stuck on the window it pops up before going full screen. Screen stays black, no amount of time makes any progress, and it just stays there until I force close the app. Have attempted to uninstall/reinstall, reset system settings, and swap between DX9 and 11, and none of them have worked.

I was having absolutely no issues playing the game prior to the patch. Game ran flawlessly with no crashes at max settings, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.

Has this crash occurred before today? Do you get any error messages when the crash happens? What have you tried to alleviate the problem? Could you also provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'
