Posted this on Discord a couple days ago. I was bored at work without my phone, thinking about what I would consider unique utility to fill the niche of RDM support, with constraints:
1) Can't be a new skill
2) Can't be overpowered [ie spammable]
3) Can't mandate a new playstyle
4) Can't change the fundamentals of the skill
5) Must be unique
What I came up with was that Acceleration is essentially Sharpcast. Sharpcast is even on a 30 second timer, acceleration is super close at 35 seconds. Sharpcast has 3 possible traits it can proc [technically Acceleration has 4 but its 2 in play.]
So I was thinking what if Vercure was tweaked to the following:
"Additional Effect: While cast under the effect of Dualcast, there is a 20% chance of doubling the potency of next spell or weaponskill. Additional effect chance only applicable if executed while in combat. "
- Dualcast to limit chances to proc outside of accel
- To give the buff time to proc, like Verfire/Verstone.
- Restricted to in combat to not affect prepull.
- The effect kinda mirrors scathe's effect as well.

On the surface you might think "Wow that sounds like it could be abused," but really the most it could ever be is 310 potency at the cost of swiftcast and 11 potential B/W mana and a potential proc once every 60 seconds.
As far as I could think it would be a dps loss, but only so much as the mana lost from VA/VT or Impact. Accel-> Jolt-> Vercure-> Swiftcast -> VerAero/Thunder or it could be used synergistically with Reprise to deal 600 potency for just 10 B/W Mana.
It would be useful but still a slight loss in most cases, outside of a natural proc during downtime, but still only as much a dps loss as maybe SMN casting titan for a gcd.
Healing up the party or yourself during downtime or an emergency could also naturally have that chance to proc for your massive swiftcast Verthunder/Aero.
The only downside I can see to it, is how often would your need for a heal line up with an unused acceleration. Same argument could be applied to egi assualt though. Also there is still that 20% chance you'll get that dps back.
So it's like RDMs version of WHMs dps rebate system, adding a unique layer of flavor to the simple job design. With the loss of apoc/erase as our support and no "free" self defensive skills I've been thinking about how to combine these two issues while not adding more button bloat and I think this really would do it.
Would you find this sort of change for Vercure, balanced, rewarding and engaging for the lowest DPS Caster with the support oriented focus?
