up until now skill speed has kinda drawn the short straw as a stat, PLD and DRK avoid it like the plague and WAR only likes it to the point that it gets an extra FC from it.
With shadowbringers the whole bottoming out on tp downside is no longer an issue and since DRK is now basically a WAR clone they might start using it too.
But looking at GNB's kit, will they actually value it as a stat? Their powerful combo has a recast that's effected by skill speed and they have 2 DoT's that will also be buffed by it and one of those also has a recast tied to skill speed.
So is GNB being setup as the new button mash tank? Is it going to value skill speed over other stats like det or direct hit?

Unless the cooldown of Gnashing Fang gets dropped to 20 seconds, GNBs most likely won't see more mileage from Skill Speed if they plan to not have it drift out of Trick Attack windows. Not to mention you'd need a ludicrous amount of skill speed which is generally only found at the end of expansions to even get anywhere near that cooldown.

Sks has not only been bad as a stat because of the TP drawbacks, but because it requires so much to give so little in return and hurt what the other stats could have given you, specially Critical Hit... I really dislike that one...
Gnashing Fang having a 35 seconds CD would make one think "hey, I want it to be down to 30 seconds", but for that you would need enough SkS to reduce your GCD to 2.14... that is not feasible unless you have a 10% Haste buff at the very least...
So, no, I don't think SkS will be required for more than the 2.4 GCD mark (and even that much sounds like too much).
SE is too scared to go faster after all. -

DRK doesn't avoid it tho, that's just PLD because how it derails their entire rotation. DRK can get extra GCDs inside Blood Weapon because of it and those are +24pot each. SkS is less useful on WAR because it doesn't do anything on it's own and if you want 6th FC in IR you'll need medium-to-high SkS, enhanced Arrow and maybe Fey Wind so it's very situational. For the very least tanks haven't had TP issues since HW, not even high SkS DRK build (which I am running, so can say with experience).
GNB with SkS will probably be like with DRK. DRK needs to hit said thresholds so it can get extra hits on BW and any extra SkS is essentially wasted. If your Gnashing doesn't line up with Trick/other buffs because you had too much or little SkS then it might possibly be just wasted investment at that point. SkS is all about hitting certain thresholds and not about just stacking it like you'd do with Crit. -

I sure hope not. SS is my least favorite stat when melding. Or at least hopefully the window is very low to where you only have to meld 2 or 3 pieces of gear to meet the threshold.

I was also humoring skill speed build during media tour skill set reveal, but after E3's changes, not so much anymore.
No Mercy being buffed to 20% from 10%, Gnashing Fang combo starter cooldown reduced to 30 seconds, and Sonic Break cooldown being changed to 60 seconds, means Gunbreaker now operates on even stricter burst window not unlike current Paladin. Stacking skill speed means your skills won't be lining up with the burst window, unless you delay some of your skills, negating the benefit of skill speed in the end.
