Three Heavensward codes invalid.

I bought the starter edition for my friend, from Steam. Mine and two other friends purchased our games from Steam too, though whenever he tries to enter the free code for Heavensward, from the SE website, it says invalid.
I've tried from his account, and generated a new code, but still no luck.

He's the only one with the problem, though all of our situations as far as getting the initial game have been the same.

Help?

Unfortunately the free Heavensward DLC offer only works for the version of the game bought directly through Square Enix, not through Steam :(

Then how would a steam player get Heavensward?

Buy stormblood, or wait a week and buy Shadowbringers. Each expansion comes with all previous expansions.

Unfotunately for Steam, it was only for those that had the Starter edition prior to May 31st.
