Visible damage would be nice..

I was watching the first boss fight in the benchmark. Characters were constantly running up and slashing the monster's exposed belly, but there wasn't a scratch on it.
By the end of the fight, it should have been slashed to pieces and the ground covered with blood and guts :)

That would likely increase the game's rating.

Especially if they applied that logic to a certain characters neck, what with the description of it being "nearly clean off"

It'd also add more work because if they account for slashing damage, they'd also have to account for magical attack and blunt damage as well. I'd rather they just leave it, rather than have an ARK affect where punching something to death or single shotting something with a gun leaves them with deep sword lacerations for no apparent reason.

Ah yes, I remember all those other times where we gored and dismembered every other creature that stood in our way. The beautiful corpse explosions when you killed a trash pack with flare. The SCH's leaving literal piles of bubbling goo in their wake. Limbs lopped off and launched through the air after daring to attempt running from the WAR. Those epic FF XIV moments.
