Cant connect with Direct x11: Error 1012

For some reason, I cannot connect to the game with Direct x11 but I can with Direct x9. My GPU (RX 590) and OS support up to direct x12 and all the drivers are up to date so it's not a software problem. When I click play now I message says, "A version update is required, select ok and launch the game again." But there is no update to download. This has been an ongoing problem and I'm not sure what to do, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice now.
