Gunbreaker FF13 Glamour?

While on reddit I saw that someone posted asking if the FF13 Blazefire Saber could get updated to work for Gunbreaker.
The poor poster is being beaten into a pulp by the toxic Reddit community for making the mistake of asking a harmless question.

But, I agree with the poster. It IS a Gunblade, so Gunbreaker should be able to use it. It harms no one & it can be argued that it makes more sense for Gunbreaker to use it over Paladin.

Since that poster didn't think to ask on the forums I'll ask for him/her.
I'm not holding my breath on SE doing so but...it's worth asking cause the OP did say one thing that honestly hit me hard.

Can the BLM & WHM FF13 Glamour be updated to 2-Handed Weapons while we're it. You know...so they'll actually be usable?

I dont think they are bashing him or trolling him at all merely explaining why it is not likely to be. Two things about the blazefire saber in relation to the gunbreaker job.

The blazefire saber while called a gunblade is not the same as the original version of final fantasy’s gunblade which is the version the gunbreaker uses.

At moments lightning’s weapon switches to gun mode to further her attacks which would be more in line with Garlean version of gunblades.

Whereas gunbreaker uses the style that pulling the “trigger” doesnt fire anything it just causes the blade to vibrate violently and worsen the slashing damage entirely.

Two there little to no precedent to get add ons like this to seasonal events i dont so much care if it becomes a glamour or not. Glamour is glamour so that is what it is but i highly doubt they will ever go back and add it to gunbreaker because it is not the same kind of gunblade and they want to stress the fact that this is squall’s version of a gunblade which is what has been asked for by the community for forever.

This is always going to be an issue with longstanding jobs. Even if you look back to ARR, most sword type weapons were converted to GLA/PLD swords irrespective of what they looked like simply because there were no other sword users at the time. Odin's Zantetsuken and (Haukke) Halicarnassus' Blood Sword are examples of this. On the plus side, at least they went back and gave SAM access to the former - I wish they'd port Blood Sword over to DRK. It's a lot less likely with limited time event weapons, though.

I do hope that Gunbreaker has access to some longer swords, preferably something that's closer to hand-and-a-half length as opposed to what Paladins typically get.

They will not do that because ff13 gunblade isnt the same gunblades we are getting. We are getting ff8 styled gunblades

The "this is not the same type of gunblade" argument is kind of silly. Look at the Paladin weapons. They have swords yes, but they are also given many other types of weapons that are not swords. There is no reason they couldn't make a larger version of the XIII Gunblade for Gunbreaker, they've done it for DRK versions of PLD weapons before, so that point is mute. However, I highly doubt they WILL do it seeing as they have not adjusted the current BLM and WHM weapons to be two handed weapons so they can be useable as glam. They are event weapons and being such I doubt they will do anything to change them unless they bring the XIII event back.

The fact that they don't function in the same way at all?

It's like saying Machinists guns and Dark Knights weapons are the same because they're pieces of metal with a handle.

Gunbreaker (VIII) weapons are swords with a revolver handle, that uses cartridges not to fire a projectile, but to send a shock down the blade upon impact to increase the effectiveness of the strike.

Lightning (XIII) weapons are swords, that fold into guns to shoot bullets at people.

This isn't a case of "Just make it bigger", it's literally completely different designed weapons.

Paladin and Dragoon can get away with different types of weapons, because they still function the same way. Paladin bops people with a Sword/Axe/Mace, Dragoon stabs people with a Spear/Lance/Halberd/Partisan/Spontoon.

Theoretically they could give Gunbreaker a Blazefire Saber and just hand wave over the fact that there's no way it would function how GNB uses it... But it's unlikely that they would do so (Even ignoring the fact that they don't seem to want to go back to re-do event weapons for new jobs)

I don't think it fits gunbreaker at all. Blazefire/blaze-edge saber functions as gun-blade it has 2 modes, so it's either a blade at one point or a gun never both. A gunbreaker's gunblade which took from FF8 is a blade with a part of the gun to pull to make it vibrate and hit harder, gunblade. Also, ff8 gunblades does not transform so what you see is what you get.

But if they do give us i won't say no to more glamours.

The Paladin version literally folds up when sheathed and is a SWORD when it's not.. please explain how this is any different from what it would do as a Gunbreaker glam weapon.

To put it very simply:

The blazefire sabre is a Sword that TRANSFORMS into a Gun so in sword mode it has not got a firing mechanism hence just another sword hence PLD.

The Gunbreaker Weapons are Swords that ARE Guns so you do both at the same time (well not even technically that because it doesn't shoot it explodes but semantics)
