Withdrawing Items from Expired Retainers

A simple suggestion, we should be able to withdraw items from retainers that we aren't paying for anymore. JUST withdrawing. Depositing new items or using the retainer to sell items/do ventures should stay locked until you pay for them again.

I feel like if we pay $2 to access a retainer for a month, we should not be locked out of items that we give to that retainer without paying $2 again.

This problem is even worse if you own multiple retainers. Let's say that I own 4 extra retainers, and when they expire I don't feel like paying for them again. If I need a single item out of the last retainer, I have to spend $8 to retrieve it, even if I don't intend to use the retainer otherwise.

I'm actually surprised that it works this way. In most games, temporary inventory can always be withdrawn from after the fact.

The $2/mo is for access to additional storage. If you don't pay your $2, you lose access to that storage. People could manipulate the system far too easily if they were allowed to pay $2 for a single month, load up that retainer with items then slowly withdraw those items over time as desired.

You need to start withdrawing the items before you let the retainer subscription expire if you're going to be using those items. Or keep paying the extra $2/mo. Not like that's a huge amount of money. All you have to do is skip buying a drink when you go out to eat once a month and you've paid for it.

Also, this isn't designed as a temporary inventory system. The game isn't the one deciding to give you temporary access for special purposes. You're the one choosing to make the purchase.

I agree with the above poster. The $2 isn't solely for the sales. It's the extra pages of storage. I had to get a retainer solely for that purpose, as I have far too much crap in mine. Once I finally get leveled up, and get the 2.5 retainers of gear cleared out, I can cut back on my retainers :)

I think they could have a system similar to the resident caretaker NPC who holds your items when your house is auto-demolished. If your retainer sub expires while holding your items, everything gets moved to an NPC for X number of days where you can retrieve everything. After X number of days, everything is deleted (same as housing) so you can't just hoard everything there forever.

I do agree with the above posters though in that it's probably just best to remove your items before your retainer sub expires. Perhaps they just need to make it more visible in-game when your sub time on retainers will be expiring.

I agree with what has been thus stated here, but I do think it would be nice to add in the option on the Mogstation to select retainers to renew regardless of order. Just a QoL in the event people want to renew a retainer to retrieve something - they don't have to renew all of them, but can just select the one they want for the $2/month.
