Worth reposting here: Hands on with new Scholar in Titania trial at E3

Prior to experiencing the trial, when the Job changes were revealed for Scholar, I assumed that healers in general were going to see a major increase in healing duties since so many actions tied to damage output were removed. It only makes sense right? Not really. During my clear runs for Titania, my co-healers were pushing out as much damage as I was as if we were running a Stormblood trial, and the issues we had with low MP, if it came up especially for Astrologian, I noticed were from damage output and not because of healing. The trial of Titania plays exactly how FFXIV’s battle content has always been formulated for the normal version of trials."

"If the trial of Titania is setting the tone for the content we will get in Shadowbringers, or at the very least, act as the median on the entire scale of ShB battle content, a logical conclusion I feel that is valid to address is that the FFXIV team has gutted Scholar to accommodate the fact that the battle encounter formula cannot be made any more complex than it has been in order to make the content more accessible for FFXIV players."

Isn't these "I beat Titania" type fights for press dumbed down a lot because it's intended to be beaten by people who have never played the game? I'm as nervous as everyone but I really wouldn't use that as the definitive answer to this question.

I know a healer, who will love this news. As long as dps dont stand in oops

Not to mention you're only level 73 fighting her.

I say wait until savage raids or even ex primals since savage won't come until 4 weeks after launch.

I say wait until the goal posts get moved even further down.

We could wait until 5.2. THEN they might put in hard healing. So, we're all ok now with content under 80 being a one button rotation? Is that the new goal post?

They're not going to make fights harder. They did that with Gordias and lost a massive chunk of their playerbase, Yoshi wrote and apology letter and said it wouldn't happen again. As quoted, general fights, extreme, the first two tiers of Savage NEED to remain accessible to the general FFXIV playerbase.

Honestly, I was ok with just spamming Scatter in dungeons, but that's just me. Other people obviously want to press more than one button. That said, pressing more buttons doesn't necessarily mean you're doing more. A one-button rotation can still press as many buttons, they just happen to be the same button, lol.

This right here. We gonna let the majority of the game be boring as hell. Also we all know Energy Drain was important as hell, so I have a solution. Give us leeches back, use its animation etc only make it function like energy drain.

The absolute truth is, content in this game is not designed for a pure healing role.

Huh everyone should obviously wait till entire ShB content is released and only after patch 5.58 two years from now we'll be able to make any sort of conclusions about healing changes.
