So, let's discuss the BLM AF stats and how the body and head pieces sucks. Seriously.
Let's go piece by piece and compare to regular crafted gear.
Wizard's Crakows:
Defense close to that of a Mahogany pattens, effect: MP+30, INT +9, Resonance cast time down.
This means +10 MP in relation to Mahogany, and INT +9 to boost. However, a single materia'd pattens with attack magic potency is comparable to it, and a double melded is far better. Resonance effect hardly "balances" it, since the spell is very situational and the recast time reduction prettty small. I'd say it's a decent piece till we get a double meld.
Wizard's Tonban:
Mag crit pot + 22, MP+40, HP-40. Pretty solid gear, IMO. Effects you can't get via melding normal legs, so it might be exchangeable with a regular leg piece depending on what you want.
Wizard's Coat:
Attack Magic Potency + 7, INT + 6, Mag acc + 1, Enhance Excruciate.
...what? Seriously? This is almost the same thing as a non materia'd Felt Bilaud. Usefulness debatable even against a one slotted Bilaud, totally useless in comparison to a double meld, terrible compared to the Sorcerer's Robe. That is, unless the Excruciate effect is really good.
Wizard' Petasos:
Mag Crit Potency + 22, Mag acc +4, INT+5, MP +10, Reduced convert cooldown.
Another somewhat bad piece. The Mag Crit Potency is good, but IMO not as useful as mag acc'd circlets, dual melded int head gear and other similar stuff. Not to mention the Sorcerer's Hat utterly destroys this piece with it's Enmity －20 effect.
Really, this one seems useful only to switch in before using convert.
Wizard's Gloves:
...what's this.....HOLY COW, AN ACTUAL USEFUL ITEM.
In fact, the Gloves are really OP. Enmity -10, Mag Crit Pot + 65 and mag acc + 5 makes it almost on par with a triple melded Ringband, and the Sorcerer's Ringband is a joke compared to it. I'd actually tone down it a bit, lol.
So, anyone agree with this, think something need to be changed, just want to say hi or anything else? ;)

you can equip a lot of accessory's now and the rings are +15 and the black pearl rings are nice too. The accessory's might be enough to really bring your stats back up. Over all you still may be better off with crafted in some cases for the best build though.

yea i pretty much agree with the post. most of the other AF for all the other jobs give one if not both of the damage modifying stats on every piece as well as 2-3 other stats or boosts. the BLM AF gives crit potency on 2 pieces, which is nice, but only when you crit, so not always worth having unless you have excruciate up. the hat reduces resonance by 10 seconds.... which i wouldnt even consider a bonus cuz ur never waiting for it to come back up in the first place. if it was like 30 seconds it would be nicer.
overall i think hands and legs are good, feet are ok and body, considering its the last piece you get, should be way better than they made it. when they said AF armor would be compareable to a double melded piece of armor is mostly right for all jobs but blm really lacks that. It seems like none of the devs play mage jobs since none of the gear they release is really any good. even before dated was dated there was a lack of mage gear so i cant say im too surprised. -

also wanted to point out that i think BLM set is only set with negative stats on it. 2 pieces have -HP on them. I dont think any other pieces have anything like that.

White mage has -Attack Magic Potency.. but WHM don't normally attack. And even then, it's only 5 mATK. The BLM set takes -70 HP. 70 HP isn't a huge deal in this game, but on a class that's already made of paper, it makes me sad. :<Quote:

Tonban: Dumb. +22 MagCritPot is negligable. Woolen Tights w/ single Loresman meld is better. Forbidden+ is far better.
Coat: Love. What are you going to meld on a Bliaud? HP is good for convert, but I'll take 1 more INT and 7 MagAtkPot over the 5 MagAcc.
Petasos: Dumb. Felt Hat of INT and single meld MagAcc or INT trumps AF Hat. Sorc. Hat would be better on boss mobs with the -enmity.
Gloves: Good piece for party play. An Ele. Ringband w/ double MagCritPot is marginally better and will have higher MagCritPot. AF Gloves will be better on boss fights w/ the -enmity. -

For now, all are great pieces, some might match double meld, but for those who can't afford that, AF is quite good. Plus, rings are now far betterQuote:
