I've ran this 3 times with a 4 man, 50 Bard (ARC) group and each time we got spanked hard by the wolves and Ixali. Does anyone have any tips for completing this?

Enter the instance and swap jobs/classes. We did it with GLA, BRDx2, WHM last night when it was bugged to only allow 4 people. Counts no matter what job/class you're on.
You can switch classes once you're inside the fight.
My group did it with whm + 3 brd. We didn't switch jobs upon entering. I think we just focused on getting the mobs down one at a time. Bards helped aoe cure whenever possible.
It's really helpful to have your mage(s) doing a little CC so you can focus on taking down mobs one at a time.
The quest does say up to 7 may accompany you so I wonder if it's a typo in the journal or a bug on entry to the fight.
Our group did it twice with BRD, PLD, WAR, and DRG. WAR runs in and links them all, PLD pulls off the Ixali and tanks that while the WAR handles the wolves. (Technically the PLD can tank more than that, I'm just keeping it simple for the purpose of this post). DRG and BRD focus fire the wolves. The Ixali has AoEs so don't stay clumped up. As the WAR of the group, I ran in, had Rampage up, mashed out Overpower and non-combo Whirlwind+Antagonize when I had the chance. The DRG can afford to go all out because even if they steal hate they can survive longer than the BRD at one-on-one. Once two wolves are down the fight is easily manageable, so have the DRG focus on whatever the WAR is hitting.
Chance or Luck I'm not sure, but we did it with a group of 4 Bard. It was tough and three of the four died at different times during the fight, but we won. I had died and then one other of our team members died , but at that point we had taken out 3 or 4 of the mobs. When one of my team members cast raise on me all the mobs turned their attention solely to her and she ran to the zone and died. :( The mobs stood there in the corner over her and their names turned yellow.
While the mobs stood over in the corner, I was able to raise and go raise another member. Our member that had inadvertently sacrificed herself had hit return unfortunately and wasn't able to get back in. The three team members left healed to full, buffed back up and then worked together to try and pick the mobs off one at a time. Towards the end I ended up just focusing on curing the other two while they finished the last two off.
