Regarding constant disconnects and Virgin Media ISP

Hey all. Recently my husband and I have been plagued with constant disconnects (90002 errors) which were happening constantly on and off during the day. I had been on a long break and hadn't played the game for over 6 months so I was really frustrated this was happening, as for me it was becoming unplayable.

I decided to do a search on the Virgin Media forums regarding this issue and sure enough I found a post regarding this issue: "https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Gaming-Support/Final-Fantasy-XIV-90002-several-disconnects-a-night/td-p/3906975"

It seems that this is an ongoing issue for virgin media customers, with some saying that the only solution is to find another ISP which is something that we're reluctant to do. However, I did notice one reply stating that they were having the same issue but found the issue went away when they disabled the router on their super hub and installed their own router.

This got me thinking back over six months ago when I was playing FFXIV before my break and I didn't remember the disconnects we'd been having. Sure we'd get a disconnect occasionally but it usually was because of DDoS attacks so it wasn't something that really concerned us as it was something that was out of Virgin Media and SE's hands.

Anyway (sorry for rambling) we used to have an Asus router instead of using the superhub and we'd had it for years until it died recently, so we switched the router back on, on the superhub. And that's probably when these really annoying disconnects started to happen.

We've now bought a new router and we installed it yesterday. Since then we haven't had a disconnect at all, and we were getting them every couple of hours, sometimes 2-3+ within an hour. Yes they were that annoying! So, it occured to me, after seeing the many posts regarding these constant disconnects what ISP provider they're using and if they're using their own router. I'm not saying it's going to fix everyone's problems but if this post helps anyone at all I thought it worth posting!

PS: We tried all the suggestions we could find on the internet, including the port forwarding, settings in Internet Explorer but nothing worked until we disabled the router on the superhub!

Here's the deal. I'm a comcast customer and it's happening to me too. I've even tried VPN (worked for a while, but now it's back to several 90006 errors a night, so it's pretty much worthless)

Since I've been posting about the problem for a few months and nothing has come of it, it's probably going to have to mean cancellation. I mean, can't play, shouldn't pay.
