Minfilia as a Rouge

So I was just wonder whats the consensus on her class being rouge. While many joke about the no job crystal(Pray return to you know where to get it) the trust clearly play by there own rules then whats been there for player jobs(Example being Alphinaud carbunle still in play even tho hes been upgraded to scholar. Do you think this is a nice fit for her as i think before the reveal every one assumed she be a healer do to white robes and being a semi goddess at this point as that just seemed typical, but then the reveal and I am just curious every ones thoughts on it.

Thancred taught her how to defend herself. That's all.

Way back in the 2.x patches she got us to deliver her a materia-enhanced dagger and out of all the Scions she always seemed closest to Thancred, highlighted best in the SHB trailer. That he probably also taught her some tricks and probably started to do so again in the time it took/takes for our character to find them makes it believable that she'd be a Rogue. As well outside the movement ability Thancred has never really done much with Ninjutsu abilities so her not learning those and thus being a Ninja makes sense.

Also, for those unaware, Thancred has always had a special relationship with Minfillia. Back in 1.0, the Ul'dah opening sequence features Thancred trying to subdue a rampaging goobbue, but he fails and Minfillia's father is killed by the goobbue. Thancred feels responsibility and keeps in touch with Minfillia as she grows up, and is eventually the one to bring her into contact with Louisoix, as well as helping Minfillia bringing her Path of the Twelve and the Circle of Knowing together into the Scions after the Calamity.

I think it was partly them needing a melee dps.

Who were the melee dps in the Scions? Thancred and Yda/Lyse. And now, Lyse is no longer a Scion but tied to Ala Mhigo.

Problem is the main scions also had no tanks. I suspect that a lot of the changes to npc jobs in ShB might be trust related.

They needed a tank, thancred going gunbreaker fit. They needed a melee dps, Minfilia could have learned to rogue from Thancred. They mad Uriangr an astrologian to stand out more from the twins, making Alph a scholar so he can heal despite having a carbuncle and not a fairy, etc.

Though I do like my headcanon that Thancred went tank to carry his daughter through the game and lets her play how she wants, hence no job stone, and the two just vote kicking anyone that complains. But of course the above is probably the truth of the matter.

Thancred has been many a thing he started out as a gladiator I want to say and then a brd in 1.0 while also picking up some rouge skills in the mean time. Also the Scion's have always been able to mix skills from other classes and jobs I mean look at Y'shtola she starts out mostly as a cnj but then pops out that ast bubble and now she's gotten into some black magics.

It's worth pointing out that she's briefly shown to be a pugilist - or at least goes into that stance at that point - in ARR. (I'm not sure if there was anything in 1.0..)

Trust Jobs and classes mostly seem not to play with the same rules as players, with Alphinaud having access to a carbuncle egi (I personally hope we get access to carbuncle egis for SCH too) as well as Uriangr being reported to have BLM's Aetherial Manipulation as he's scripted to cast it in the media tour's final dungeon boss when someone reaches said boss, though I'm not sure if AST will be getting that as a skill in Shadowbringers

Its probably best to assume that Trusts will sometimes not play with the same restrictions players have to so that they can both feel more interesting and compensate for any NPC quirks like low DPS

Yeah, NPCs don't have to play by the same rules as players, and some gameplay rules exist just for the sake of gameplay and not lore. Like the carbuncle thing, there's really no particular reason an arcanist turned scholar shouldn't be able to have a carbuncle out and still cast scholar spells.

Ah yes, the much-lauded rouge class. I prefer rogue, but I suppose cosmetic skills are useful as well.
