free to play until lvl 30?

i have a friend that would like to try the game and not sure if he can do the 7day trial since he plays about 1 day a week. but i heard they have where you can play the game until lvl 30 then need to buy the game. but you can lvl all classes to lvl 30 until then. is that still going on?

Yes. You can download the trial here, and they can play until level 35 in each class, actually; that allows you to experience the associated jobs as well. No time limit on it, either.

While there's no time limit, there are a lot of other limitations. Things like: They can't join an FC, can't invite anyone to a party, can't trade with other players or sell stuff on the marketboard, chat is restricted to /say, party chat, and novice network, and so on.

Although technically you can use it all the way up to level 35, I wouldn't recommend using it for more than a day or two to see what the game looks like. It really is intended more as a demo than a way to start the game with a free to play account.
