Monk new abilities talk, kind of discussion, thoughts so far?

Well after seeing them, i am kind of mixed, one one hand 4GL stacks BB, on the other hand stances...ok but why tho?
It seems that now we have another offensive oGCD for the chackras unless ofcourse Forbiden is going to evlove to the hadoken(?), which is okay i guess. It seems we have a new raptor (?) GCD, i mean its weird because in the video he uses DK and then Riddle of fire (hmm still there huh?) and then the upward kicks and refreshes the GL timer, which is interesting AF, maybe is unique to GL4, and that would be cool.

Oh! and the spin kick GCD, that seems vissually nice and apparently part of the MNK new aoe rotation...why does a single target DPS needs an AOE rotation (condidering that PB->RB spam
works pretty well), its a bit beyond me but you know more options is always good.
Other things to notice is Arm of the destroyer, since now we have interrupting mechanics (again) does that mean that Arm is back from being completly useless (i mean kind of) to some what useless? Like in the first coil when Monks had to silence the node, could be worse i guess.
One ilm is hopefully gone but lets not delude ourselves here.

It also seems that monk has an Gl gaining/maintaining oGCD (it seemed kind of slow, not really parctical mid fight, so i am guessing is also to maintain GL stacks when boss changes phase) however is that only usable on Fist of wind or is free for all?

One a more aesthetic front (and maybe this is just me) but will they ever correct the Shoulder tackle icon and name? The animation is a palm strike not a shoulder tackle, wheras steel peak animation is a shoulder tackle... i just cant even.

Finally will they ever give Monk a unique LB3? because lets be honest here, final heaven is not a unique LB, SE (or the devs for 14) got lazy and simply left monk with the old LB3 that every other melee class had in 2.x, i really wanted something unique that screamed monk...or at least whispered it, instead we still have the F*cking Giant light pillar because monk, i again cant even.

Over all not bad. On a side note DRk skills look really nice.

Final Heaven was Tifa's final limit break in FFVII(and Zell's in VIII), and the XIV version looks pretty much identical to every other incarnation of the ability. It's been a definitive MNK ability for over a decade.

I find it interesting that you ignored most of what i wrote, for example that its not the "definitive MNK ability" since , you know, every other class had it at one point. Its a bit hard call it a MNK ability when a dragoon does it. The fact that remained unchanged tells me that they got lazy, even a visual update would have been nice.

Oh also i did not knew that it was the definitive MNK skill, since only 2 characters use it, most of the other MNKs in the rest of the games do not use Final Heaven (or anything that resembles it), so you know i never knew it was. I dont remeber Sabin using anything like that so...

Very excited to see the meditation style thing allowing us to unlock GL4 and keep our stacks.

Doing farms is awful for mnks trying to get back our stacks when we could instead be maximizing on our current damage.

Someone mentioned MNK now has an entire AOE combo for it's 1-2-3 and I'm so glad.

Charging Shoulder Tackle is HUGE. Like I'm guessing we can cycle through Wind Tackle and Fire Tackle when our stacks are capped. So now we don't have to worry about blowing our tackles prior.

Biggest thing to me is the Hadouken style attack. Seems like it's locked specifically to GL4 and uses all of your chakra. Was talking to someone on reddit about it stating it's going to be like SAM's Guren that will go back into CD after it's used.

Regardless very happy with the MNK changesand I can't wait to start playing it.

The spin kick doesn't look like an OGCD to me, but like a second move in our AOE combo, especially since it's Arm of the Destroyer > new spin kick move > Rockbreaker without any other skill used to change stances between.

Also it stood out to me that the monk never went into Fists of Earth and never used Brotherhood.... Makes me wonder if Brotherhood is already getting deleted? That would be no good for monks in a raid environment. (Though I also noticed Dragoon didn't use tether and Ninja didn't use Trick Attack...)

I foresee banking shoulder tackle charges becoming mandatory for some boss fights to be able to maintain up time. Let one sit in bank for mobility.

Oh right that was my bad, and i think that BH might be gone, do bear in mind that its just ShB showcase which means showing of all of the skills is not really the point, But maybe they are gone....

From what I can see, we have an AoE chakra attack, a new aoe that can be used in Raptor form, a new single target attack that takes no resources a meditation ability that's basically a copy/paste of what SAM already has.

And Greased Lightning 4 is locked behind fists of wind....I don't know how I feel about this. It makes me feel like this won't actually be our most damaging stance. Also you can use RoF without shifting to Fists of Fire.

If things don’t change the numbers, and you have to stay in Fists of Wind for GL4 then it will be the highest DPS since every stack of GL adds 10% damage currently while Fists of Fire adds 6%

So you’ll be attacking both faster and harder in Fists of Wind.

This is complete speculation, but the GL4 stack may only increase speed and not attack, which would make GL4 better for prolonged dmg but Fists of Fire good for big burst damage from RoF.

It was the only part I touched on because I'm not familiar with the job and wouldn't be able to provide anything of value. Yang and Sabin are definitely more representative of the job, but I can't think of abilities from either that would work as an LB3 with how XIV works, especially since it seems like Aura Cannon is being added as a Chakra skill.
