Typically you use gamepads with your mouse in the other hand. The live stream labeled it as "Left-handed Gaming Device from HORI." This means the gamepad is used with the left hand, which is made for right-handed people.
I'm just personally a bit salty as a lefty that has been searching for a gamepad made for the right hand for years (they don't really exist) and seeing everyone saying "but what about us right-handed people" when it's made for all you right-handed people.
(No offense of course because even all the lefties got excited when they saw "Left-handed", I just personally know this because I've been searching for gamepads for a long time)

Since, Hori do already sell pads for right handed people (I.e. That are used with the left hand, with the right hand using a mouse)
This, as yet unrelease, special FFXIV designed pad could be different and be actually designed for lefties (By being a pad used with the right hand, so the left hand is using the mouse) no? -

It shows during the live letter it's used in the left hand. The thumbstick is on the right side, just like any other gamepad.

Gamepads for right-handed people are used in the left hand. Gamepads for left-handed people would go in the right hand, but no company actually makes those.

Thumbstick is for movement usually, not for camera control. Gamepads don't usually replace the mouse but rather the keyboard.

You are not replacing the gamepad you are replacing mouse. Razor used to make Left handed Naga mouse but they either stopped or are hard to find.

"Left-handed gamepad" seems to be, paradoxically then, the name for a right-handed person's gamepad.If this is the case as supported by your own literature, wouldn't SE be right in calling it a left-handed gamepad?
EDIT: It just dawned on me what you said in your post. I hate left and right. lol
Calling them left-handed gamepads is a mistake XD
