Silly Question
I know this is one of those “do what you want” types of things, but I’ve reached the point where they start shipping you off to the other main cities and, as someone who loves to do all the quests: should I just leave them til I start a new class in that city? Soak up all the XP and flavor later?

Yes, it's best to do those really low-level quests on a low-level character.
It's worth noting that they can be done as a crafter/gatherer class if you like. (If it asks you to kill monsters, you can change to a battle class and change back. It only looks at your class when you hand in the quest.)
All the cities have unique stories up to Lv15 where they merge at the "travel to the other cities" quest, so something else you might like to do is start a second character to play through the early-game quests in the other cities, particularly Ul'dah as it's an early introduction to some characters that continue to be involved in the story.
Something else regarding sidequests - generally they're designed to be done alongside the main story of the same quest level, sometimes even referencing what's going on at the time, but they'll unlock 'early' depending on your actual character level. So, speaking from experience - don't go off across the map chasing after quest icons in out-of-the-way places, because the story will send you there pretty soon. And don't take quests that are higher than the current story level (unless they're the blue "unlock game element" type quests).

Thanks, I’ve had an archer and guardian up to that point. I’ve had trouble picking a main class to do the MSQ, but I got to see the early story quests!
