Error 2002 on login
I was able to play fine yesterday, but now I am getting an error 2002 when I try to log in today.
I have tried opening the following ports:
UDP
55296-55551
TCP
80, 8080, 443, 55296-55551
I have tried putting myself in DMZ mode, turning off my windows firewall, and restarting my pc/modem.
If I turn my VPN on I can log in just fine though.
I am running on a windows 10 pc with a hard wired connection.

Good afternoon and thank you posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Please try the following:
- The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
- Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
- Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
Hope to see you online!

Did exactly as requested and still no luck.

I am having the problem. Oddly enough i can connect too Chaos but not Aether.
Im posting on this instead of making a second post in hopes the same solution fixes the same problem.
edit:
So i tested pinging the FF servers with CMD
NA Data Center 184.107.107.176
JP Data Center 202.67.53.202
EU Data Center 209.130.141.243
i get 100% packet loss with NA, and the other two i get good reply's from the ping.
-
Just tried pinging the NA data center and can confirm im in the same boat. 100% packet loss.
I cant ping the JP data center either, but I can ping the EU data center.
-
I just tested pinging as well, got about 4 "Request timed outs" and finally, the 100% packet loss.
Thank goodness it's not just me, I was really distraught last night. I've since tried installing WTFast, and it actually helped me connect oddly enough. A Potential workaround until we might hear something.

Good afternoon and thank you for the replies.
For everyone still encountering the Error 2002, when did it start happening? Was it after a patch update or was it a random occurrence? Do you get disconnected anywhere else? Is it just when signing on?
Hope to see you online!

It started Wednesday morning for me. Was able to play fine Tuesday and previous.
I get the error when trying to connect to my data center or server.
At this point im thinking it's an ISP issue.
-
Around Thursday for me, let my PC download a Windows update while I worked, and when I came back I couldn't connect to NA anymore. (But can still go the EU and Japan's Data Centers.)
It must be an ISP issue of some sort. I can't think of another reason why I can connect to one Data Center, but not another, unless I'm using a VPN.
Edit: Might be useful to mention I am using the Steam version of FF14.

A friend and I have been having this issue as well since Wednesday morning, so I think whatever issue we're all facing, it is the same source.
