Late to the PvP Game
I'm a level 70 black mage who realized comparatively recently how to use Party Finder. I tried to enter PvP through Duty Finder in the early days when it first came up in-game around level 30. I waited for over two hours with no end in sight on multiple occasions and eventually just gave up.
Now I'm aware I can technically go into Party Finder for PvP to give it a shot but I dunno if it would be weird for me to hit the training thing at level 70 regardless of syncing. I also don't know if other people are in this position or not.
Also, while I've been wanting to try this for a while I'm mainly a solo player. Meeting new people has been fun and I chat a little but generally don't have a fixed set of friends I run with. Idk if that would make it weird either.
Anyone who has done PvP before have advice? Is it too late for me to try?

Well which form of PvP are you looking to try, exactly? You don't need to worry about level, PVP is completely separated from PVE. Gear doesn't matter, you get completely new abilities and a new rotation... level also doesn't matter, and so on.
If you want the Feast, it's solo queue only*. But there's a discord called PvPaissa that can help you out with all the info you need to get started.
Then there's a Revival Wings discord that, you guessed it, organizes queuing times for Rival Wings. There's probably one for Frontlines too but I don't know it - in any case, Google can guide you to any of these.
*Someone will inevitably point out that training mode allows duo queue. Technically this is true, but it's so easy to stomp people in this mode even solo, duo would get boring super super fast.

How is it going? So far so good?
One good basic BLM PvP tip: not only CAN you cast on the run, it's essential. Once you get astral fire or umbral ice up, you can insta-cast by alternating them. Normally, you wouldn't do this as it's weak, but since you mostly can't cast on the run otherwise, it's essential for PVP. So often times, you'll actually want to use Swiftcast just to get fire or ice up so you can continue to instant cast on the run.
