CRUEL! Shame on your SE

The housing timers are without a doubt the most cruel and hideous mechanic I have seen in a game ever.
SE has the most talented crew in any company in the gaming business and you honestly think I will believe that this was the best that you could come up with.

I am aware, so before the internet justice warriors come to defend their beloved SE with their excuses, stop while you're ahead.
I know it's not a NEEDED thing in game, however I want it. I pay to play the game. I am trying to play the game, I don't need to justify why I want it, I do have a fc room and apartment. I just want it. That's all there is to it.

It's content in game that I want.

HOWEVER with that being said, how on earth could SE invent such a disgustingly awful housing.
A team that brought graphics to an almost insane perfection, and brought games to a whole new level of beauty with it's creative worlds, flamboyant characters and STUNNING game play, and you really think that an invisible timer was the best option.
I have been going at this for weeks. Multiple houses taken from me just because I walked away to rest, take care of my health, eat, ect.
A lot of my free time devoted to finding a house in game. I love this game, it's beyond beautiful. BUT THIS IS THE UGLIEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A GAME EVER and needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Because I know that SE has the ability to make it better. They simply choose NOT to.

Shame on you SE for implementing such a disgusting thing in game. SHAME.

Some more patience sir/madam, let's wait for the upcoming expansion and see what adjustments SE will implement in terms of housing.

I believe the devs are aware of how they beautifully designed the ffxiv world and housing particulars, thus the housing aspect that should have been an end-game content focused aspect became a complimentary aspect to the ffxiv journey from start to end-game.

I've been as patient as I can. Weeks of devotion has proven that much, but everyone has their limit.
I'm a nut hair away from losing whatever cool I haven't already exhausted.

Now that the auto demo is back on, surely some properties will free up in the coming weeks. As nicely mentioned before, have a little patience.

My eyes glaze over whenever someone says some variation of Justice Warrior when they don't agree with you. Argue like an adult or be rightly dismissed.

I actually agree with you regarding the housing crisis we are forced to deal with. People have lives and they can't babysit a plot because of timers or because people who don't sleep and don't have occupations can run right up and buy it even if somebody waited for it but had to leave due to being tired, hungry, or needed to shower or go to school/work. Players should be entitled to housing. I personally think that every player should have an automatically designated plot ready for them to unlock as soon as they do the necessary quests to open the residential areas up as well as having the appropriate amount of gil. Plots should be upgradable, that way people don't have to fight for a specific size in order to get a plot in the first place.

There are way too many small plots as opposed to large and mediums, and most players would rather settle for a medium if they couldn't get a large any day over a small. Smalls are like shoe boxes; you can barely decorate and have room to walk. Is it just me, or do apartments somehow feel bigger? Not sure why, but that's besides the point. There's not enough wards considering the population per world on each data center. Players from much larger worlds have intentionally moved to small servers because of this crisis that has been going on as soon as housing was accessible, and it's more than overdue for a makeover. Like many others have suggested, the game should create new wards as soon as the last one is full in order to accommodate more players.

I know that's just a pipe dream for FFXIV, but it's sad to see a great MMO such as this one have such a disastrous and draconian housing system. Some people pay more expensive subscriptions than others because they've hired multiple retainers from Mog Station and for that amount of money per month, one would think housing would come with the territory by default. Unfortunately, those who don't have houses are locked out because they won't be able to get one for the many reasons already discussed. It's terribly unfortunate and it needs to change. If it's about resources, then SE can either put out more cosmetic items on Mog Stations (more outfits that you can actually DYE), or slightly increase the base subscription prices. I know a lot of people struggle to pay their subscriptions as it is and sometimes a few more dollars (or any other currency you use) can make all the difference, but obviously SquareEnix has a real problem here.

The current system was designed to stop people from selling plots directly to other players, though this only works to cut out first time buyers as someone that wants to relocate can still grab it right away.

In that sense I support it, but I think a better system could be put in place. One idea, and I don't take credit for this I read it from another post a while back, was a lottery system. When a plot opens up, anyone that wants the plot pays the prices of the plot. After a set amount of time, one person is chosen at random and receives the plot. The others are refunded their gil to try again on another plot.

This would require removing the ability to transfer into plots before the timer is up, transfers would need to be put into the lottery pool.

This would make it so that you can't directly sell plots to other players, which SE doesn't want happening, while also taking away the advantage people with autoclicker bots have in getting plots. And also means people aiming for a plot don't have to camp the plot for potentiality hours on end to be there when it opens.

There would be a few things to work out. Can someone pay into more than one plot's lottery at a time and cancel their other lottery bids if they win one, or just limit to one pool per account? Do you give an advantage to people transfering like they have now or do you make it fair between transfers and new house buyers? But I think it would neatly address the issues the timer is meant to address while making the process more convenient and fair all around.

Way too over the top...

Hold on, less than 2 months to go till shadowbringers, lets hope they give us some answers in their live letters.
