How to tell if I already have a Hairstyle unlocked

Is there any way to tell if I have a style unlocked before I buy it? Trying to get them all before ShB, but I don't remember which ones I've bought in the past and don't want to waste gil/MGP.

The ones you buy in the Gold Saucer for MGP aren't tradeable, so the system won't let you buy it if you already have it. If you attempt to buy it, it will give an error message to the effect of "You cannot purchase another of this unique item." You can check which things you have by attempting to buy each and seeing whether it gives you a confirmation box or an error message. (Works for hairstyles, minions, mounts, etc. so long as they're unique/untradeable.)

That doesn't work for the tradeable ones, however.

you can just also check whit janelaine what hairstyles you have if you are not sure, so long that you don't change hairstyle you don't pay the 2000 gil and if you buy a hairstyle on mb and have it you can just sell it again

It's worth pointing out that this error message also takes priority over the insufficient funds message, so you can check even if you couldn't possibly purchase it anyway.

[I know this is an old thread, but the stuff already written here didn't help me.]

For tradeable hairstyles, this is the only method I could find.

1) Use the Crystal Bell inside an inn room. You'll be taken to the Aesthetician (Jandelaine).

2) Select "Hairstyle" and you'll see a list of thumbnails for all the available hairstyles.

3) The built-in hairstyles have no information other than the thumbnail image itself. But unlocked hairstyles have a small icon -and- they show the name of the unlock if you select the thumbnail or hover your mouse over it. (See attached image.)

Ones that you haven't unlocked do not appear at all. If you see the thumbnail for it, then you've unlocked it. Note that the text is a bit misleading and seems to imply that you still need to unlock the hairstyle.

When you buy one from the market board, if you already have it you'll get a "you already have this, do you really want to buy it anyway" message first. (also happens with minions, emotes, etc.)

you know what really pisses off about this entire hair style situation. You don't get that option to change your hairstyle if you are Hrothgar. SE promised they would fix it and over 2 years later they still haven't. they should give every Hrothgar a free fantasia, since they were so misleading about them.
