BRD: Is THM sub useful?

This has been brought up in some posts, but never really discussed in depth.

I was speaking with a friend about BRD and the "sub class" selection available to them.

Why THM?

Resonance increases range of next spell cast sure... But I don't see how THM assists BRD in its support role at all. Only one spell that can be used, and that spell might not even be needed.

Eh, just thought it was curious as my friend who was excited about bard was upset about their selection.

We will see when the patch hits really... It's speculation! ;)

I can coun't more then 5 spells/abilites that BRD can choose from their THM and CNJ subs that will aid them greatly in a support role.


It's more about seing it as a whole, what abilities both classes can bring and pick the best suited ones for the task at hand.
You'd find that most all jobs have the same situation with what abilites they can choose from their assigned classes.

BRD (ARC/ CNJ/ THM ) abilities with help BRD a lot since bard will be DD/buff/Enffeble.

BRD Seems to have high mage stats in addition to it's melee stats, so i find it completely reasonable that a bard will be able to equip nukes from the classes to supplement it's damage capabilities, or support/ buff abilities to further help that role.

For BRD I'd go with

Cure
Sacred Prism
Stoneskin
Sanguine Rite
Raise

It's worth noting that BRD will be the only job capable of tossing out an AoE Sanguine Rite.

Exactly, AoE Sanguine Rite is BRD only now. Keeping that on the PLD is also one of the most important role BRD will be playing, IMO.

Sanguine Rite only lasts 20 seconds, and is marginal MP, unless you plan on taking a very large hit. The best part of sanguine rite is lost when it is used on anything but a THM (Damage Reduction 25%), and Bard will have a song for MP that will probably(we'll see) be much more potent than sanguine rite in MP restoration. It will still have uses, (Example: raising while being attacked, no interuption) but hardly vital to the party/tank. I'll more than Likely continue to use my Sacred prism on Cures or Stoneskin.

Not the best, but i'll take it.
