Regalia engine sound effects

Is it bugged for me or is it supposed to sound like ocean waves on the beach?

I was expecting more of a rumble while driving especially after the cutscene at the end of the Garuda trial.

It probably doesn't have a combustion engine but I don't find the current driving sound effect pleasant.

I mean this even not a car, its just cardboard 4 seater for gposers.

Keep in mind that they are currently very limited as to how to make engine sounds sound "realistic":
Every single mount, be it animal or machine, is a "reskinned chocobo". Which means that it cannot "roll", but instead it's taking very long "steps". Every "step" triggers a long sound effect.
This is very easy to see by going into shallow water and just going straight while looking backwards. With your chocobo, every step leaves a splash of water behind. With the car (and other wheeled mounts), the splash of water comes out every 3 seconds or so.
That's why they cannot recreate a satisfying engine sound. Because every "step" is just a 3 second long "vrooom" that needs to transition into the next "vrooom".
This is probably the reason it sounds so muffled and low volume, because the transition between one sound effect and the next is very jarring (you can notice it if you crank your volume to the max).
I know this is a horrible explanation, but I hope this was clear to understand.

That wasn't a horrible explanation :). If this is true though then it would be nice for them to add more to the system, mounts are money makers :3. GW2 / WoW have some really polished mount systems.

At least some of the mounts have excellent rolls and animation blending, with the proper tracks / crunchy sounds. WoW seems to have a few that are love projects that are great and a number that are more generic / meh.. so maybe I shouldn't pat their back on that lol. However, GW2's system is quite unique (each mount has their own sort of style and handling, lots of power under that system).

The water track every few steps has definitely caught my eye on the Faclon and left me a bit disappointed, just looks really silly. Like Fenrir picking up dirt and no water splashes / sounds in shallow water.
