I was looking forward to playing a Viera for something different but that starting outfit is too much for me to overlook. They look like they are straight out of Forsaken World.

I thought you were better than that, Square Enix. Count me as disappointed.

It's based off Fran's normal look. And that's been a thing for... atleast 13 years or so...
I'm not hype about the Viera 'base' armor either... but, it's hardly surprising.

Because they're based off of the FF12 variant of the race, and the outfit is a throw-back/bone to everyone whose been asking for Fran's outfit for years now.

Personally given their past history of more modest outfits and generally equal opportunity cheese when it does happen, I doubt that the majority of Viera NPC's will be wearing it. Likewise the men will likely be wearing something equally as cheese ridden if we ever get them, but that's a topic for another time.

Also, this game has the best equality i've ever seen in the skimpy side of things, usually if it's skimpy on a female it's also skimpy on the males. the best way of doing things- fan service for all!

Anyway, like others have said, they're based on the Viera, the ff12 version in-fact.

If I may be so bold, when people think of viera; they think of ff12 Viera not the ones from FFT. I personally never even knew anything about FFT until the 24man, I only knew viera from FF12 as "most" people.

People have asked for this, People knew what viera wear, so I wouldn't blame Yoshi P and the team for giving us what we asked for.

Don't you know? The clothing covers their only vulnerable spots. ;P

Hmm, how about "experienced?"

I'm not a fan of the Viera look myself. XII's political storyline was somewhat difficult for me to take seriously with a bunny girl in a metal bikini hanging around.
Still, it makes sense that SE would carry that look forward into XIV as the XII incarnation of Viera are quite popular.
Thankfully XIV on the whole has great variety with armour designs so players can dress their characters as skimpily or modestly as they choose.
