We still need more scaling options!

hello. anything past the 1080p resolution tends to have scaling issues one way or the other.

just a couple of things i think could help...



in the system settings we have an option to apply some global scaling. it would be useful to see pretty much the same option also appear in the HUD Layout setting. it would only affect the things you can change while in HUD Layout.

we need to have a specific option for scaling nameplates. even better yet, a scaling option for each type of nameplate.

we need an option to specifically scale the NPC chat bubble. even if you max out system scaling, anything higher than 1080p makes these super tiny and quite difficult to read.

also, that text that appears outside of a dialogue box during some cutscenes. the white text. when playing at anything past the 1080p resolution, it becomes very small.

unpopular opinion : You're a "minority" and diverting resources to support these edge-cases that fall outside the "normal" gaming spectrum are probably not worth the investment.

minority, or not... it is still quite common for people to play this game on the TV. not to mention at least two of those recommendations would also benefit PlayStation users.

i don't recall NPC chat bubbles being an issue on the PS4. but nameplates are just as much an issue on either platform.

and having a global option in HUD Layout similar to like what we have in system settings would make things easier for anyone wanting to try out a different resolution. there is a small work-a-round for that. but if you happen to have all of your slots already filled, it would mean sacrificing a layout.


also, i forgot to mention that text that appears outside of a dialogue box during some cutscenes. the white text. when playing on TV at anything past the 1080p resolution, it becomes very small.

I play in 2160p on a 4K TV and in general the scaling is very good now. In the previous expac, the game was straight up unplayable above 1080p so what we have now is a significant improvement from before. There are a few things which are still small, the NPC text bubbles above their heads is a good example of this, but in general the UI is completely usable in 4K now which makes me happy.

indeed. for the most part, it is very good. i remember when you speak of, and THAT was bad. but at the very least it would be good to have individual options for a select few items that can only be scaled using the system setting. those would be, nameplates, NPC chat bubble and that white text sometimes in a cutscene.

if you are playing 2160p on a TV, then you know just how small them NPC chat bubbles get. VERY small... so, at the very very least i would love to see an option specifically for that.

Roughly half of this game's user base is on PS4. Further, a very large amount of console players play on a TV. Regardless of platform, the TV and monitor split is likely 50/50 or close enough to make no difference. This is not a "minority."

I'm happy with my 3440x1440p and my hubby got my non-curved version earlier this year.
I'm more turned off by the low resolution textures vs a chat window being too big.
