Connection problems
I bought this game only a few days ago and had no problems until this morning. As soon as I started to play today I was hit with disconnecting over and over again with errors 90006 and 90002. Nothing about my setup has changed. I have tried every thing on this forum I can find; Internet explorer settings, Port forwarding, turning off firewalls, restarting router. I even called my friend that works at my ISP. After doing tracerts on a few of the ips found on this forum he can not find anything wrong with my connection nor my ISPs connection saying the packets are being dropped some where after or on the games end.
I ended up downloading a VPN to try the free trial of the vpn and found that it completely stopped the disconnecting and lag. But, I find it unacceptable to have to pay for a VPN service to play a game I am already paying to play.
Platform: PC
Error codes: 90002, 90006
Connection type: Wired
Other Programs running: Discord, Google Chrome
Frequency: Every 30mins when standing still doing nothing and every 5mins if trying to
do any instanced duties
Booted to: Start screen
Things i have tried: About everything I could find on this forum

I have ran into quite a few people having this problem. We tried our best to get through a few dungeons but ended up having to call it a night. I still don't understand how using a VPN can some what hold a stable connection to their servers.

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Where exactly in game are you experiencing the disconnection? Are you in a dungeon playing with other people? Does it disconnect immediately when signing into the game?
Hope to see you online!

While trying to do duties mainly. Any kind of instanced content seemed to cause disconnecting. The more people the worse it would get.

Thank you for the reply Lehina. I apologize for the delay in our response.
If you are able to avoid disconnections by using a VPN, it sounds like you are running into a routing issue on your way to the server. A VPN would take you through a different route, likely avoiding what is causing your problem.
Unfortunately, the troubleshooting steps we give are focused around your PC and home network and wouldn't affect the connection between you and the server.
