I want to take my squaddies outside like chocobos

Basically, the title: I'd like to be able to toot a horn or something and have a specified member of my squadron come out and fight alongside me, basically as a chocobo replacement while leveling. Chocobos and bardings are cool and all, but I'd rather take my glammed dudes out in the world with me.

In WoW's garrisons (which squadrons seemed to have a fair amount of inspiration from), a certain subset of the people who you could send on missions were also designated as "bodyguards", and would follow you around the field and fight with you. FF14 eventually implemented squadron dungeons, which is similar, but part of the fun of having glam options is showing em off to other people, and it'd be cool to be able to take them out for new-expansion leveling (though obviously not for shadowbringers, but maybe the next one) instead of just in solo dungeons.

A potentially weird part about it would be people who have the same squaddie out meeting in a zone and seeing their squaddie's clone, but WoW solved that by just calling other bodyguards by generic names when you saw them, so in XIV you could essentially do the same thing and call them Hyur Marauder/Lalafell Thaumaturge/etc, and it wouldn't be all that weird.

I don't particularly like doing squad dungeons vs normal dungeons, so it'd be a nice way to keep the squad content relevant instead of having them just standing in the barracks all day.

Do I stable them?

That's basically what the barracks is anyway, just with less cleaning up poop.

I'd like to do dungeons with my chocobo.

How about bringing all 8 squad members, 2 retainers and my chocobo?

I think if your character is a Lalafell and you should be able to use your bigger squad members as mounts.

In WoW legion you could have a follower that follows you in the open world and helps you fight.

It would be cool to pick one of your squadron members and have them follow you around and help you fight while in the open world.

But i know since we have chocobos already that do that, the odds of us getting squadron members in the open world is probably slim to none.

The "trust" system is coming, which is similar to this. How it will work and whether or not you'll be able to summon your squad, however, we don't know.

As far as I know, the trust system is essentially squadron dungeons but extended to actually be usable for quest completion (like when you have to go into a dungeon for the MSQ) to help people solo through MSQ, and not overworld content. If it is, that'd be neat and I'd ask them to just extend that more for squadron members, but it didn't sound like it from the brief glimpse we got of it.

I'd be happy with myself and another player being able to bring one member each into a dungeon and form a full team.

Some days, you just want to do dungeons with your partner and don't want to deal with randos.

Bringing out Squadron members, also Retainers, as Companions would be cool.

Not sure how the Trust system will work, but it could also be cool to have them able to be used as Companions too.

Especially if you could also then bring Companions into Exploration Missions (Eureka would be much less tedious to solo if you could have a companion with you...)

I think the main issue with Squadron members is that they're rigged af in power level. Also, they're capped at level 60 at the moment which would kind of limit their usefulness (Outside of their rigged stats that is)
