Does that mean that the classic races could eventually get some added customization as well? I think its a good sign myself, that maybe they MIGHT not do a complete overhaul of the models but we might get better features and textures.

Q: Will the plump miqo'te in the trailer be playable? Will we be seeing plump versions of other races?
A: *laughs* There are many different body types in the world, and before, we couldn't represent all of them due to cost. But now, we're starting to look into different body types for races, starting with the plump miqo'te. You'll be seeing them in the MSQ, so please give us your honest feedback.
So... maybe...? Certainly seems like a great expansion selling point somewhere for the future, new improved character creator. Would be nice to see some more morph options for our characters.
Texture update on some of our character models/armor would be cool, I wonder if they might find something feasible in using the AI that improved the texture quality of FFVII and FFIX (seemed to do a really good job for those games). Also once they go ps5 I'd love to see fur get it's own shader :3 (perhaps that means also hair with physics for better/less clipping).
Lol - yeah it would, even if they give you a free fantasia with the expansion you still have every race with new options so.. people who want to try more than one would be alting like mad and probably changing the appearance of many of their alts/characters many times.
