In terms of lore (which one of the reason why we are in this situation now) they broke it once already when made male Miqo'te and female Roegadyns who did not exist in their original game, FF11. Not to mention that we actually break the lore on daily basis at least with jobs. So, with proper polite feedback, this can be solved.
Still, I'm sad to see that in fact 50% of posts end up in insults (both from those who is against the lock and those who is up for this which does not make any of those people look better). While situation in its core as well as main arguments were quite the same in 2011, the whole level of negativity in community is just disgusting. Though I'm also sad to see threads about "it's sexism" and "I'm offended" because... c'mon FF14 is not sexist game. More than that, it's now how you should to ask developers about anything. So in the end, both teams are bad in this fight.
