Just coming back after a year or so off. I played ARR, HW and SB, with plenty of progression tanking in HW.
One thing I’ve noticed since coming back is that PLD at least seems to have gained a boatload of extra keybinds, 38 in total at last count. My question is threefold: i) are they all truly necessary; ii) will Shadowbringers bring some sort of consolidation; and iii) do DRK and WAR have fewer keybinds?
1) Not all. Some are fairly niche. Many are though.
2) We have no idea at this time. Though, it's speculated to be likely.
3) DRK, not so much. WAR yes, they have fewer "Niche" skills, only 1 AoE skill and have their Gauge Spenders consolidated into 2 buttons (For 4 skills. Inner Beast and Steel Cyclone in Defiance. Fell Cleave and Decimate in Deliverance) though they're still pretty full on keybinds (I have 3 full action bars even with culling what I can)
Back to WAR it is then. Mailed it for progression during HW and it was fun, but if it’s the least excessively keybind-y that’s good.
I’m fine with up to 36, although I do feel like a lot of those are bloat, but more just gets silly imo.
Heh, yeah, I did notice I have the most keybinds of all classes on my PLD. Warrior is definitely having a lot less keybinds as well as being considered the most effective tanking job of FFXIV at the moment so you probably have a win-win going for you there switching bad to WAR. :)
That was the reason I WAR in the first place. Back in 3.0 when the triple fell cleave opener just gave the raid group an extra dps.
